    Aerobatics schools near Raleigh?

Hi all, I'll be in the Raleigh area for a few weeks this summer and was hoping to get an introduction to aerobatic flying. Does anyone know of a school that would offer some sort of short course? Something along the lines of a half day just to go out and have some fun doing loops and rolls...

    Shortest Scheduled Air Carrier Flight.

I’ve flown the 9.7 mile route PGSN-PGWT about 2000 times. Not quite the shortest and granted it was mostly in a PA32, but an interesting one and scheduled service nonetheless!

Southeast PoA [Post Xmas Burgers] - GMU [2020]

I'm out on Sunday, tomorrow we will just have to see how things go. Landings will be spirited, but that's been par for the course most of this winter.

New article about ADS-B states 88% compliance

Still holding out on my 172. I just can't imagine prices not dropping some point in the next year or so. Right now the manufacturers have so much demand that they can keep prices high, but there are only so many skybeacons they can sell, and at some point they will either drop new prices, or...

Southeast PoA [Pre Xmas Burgers] - GMU

Count me in. Hitching a ride with @BrianNC I was just there about a month ago, no landing fees and plenty of parking out in front of the restaurant.

Buying my first plane, what should I consider

I was in the same situation about a year ago. Except I got tired of renting at about 12 hours of flight time. Have you looked at financing? I bought my 172 for $5,000 down and a hair over $200/month in payments. Single SL30 Nav/Com, and a 450 hour engine. Since then I've logged about 200...

    Odd ADS-B / Foreflight issue

I've had my scout pick my plane up a couple times too. It's always a surprise getting an alert out of nowhere for traffic at same altitude, 0.25nm, 6 o clock!

    Cross-Country Fun vs. Practice

I've been in the same boat, flying a lot of cross country time. I just always try to end my flight back home with two or three touch n goes to stay sharp.

Atlanta Area peeps - gimme ur suggestions

Just got back from Runway Cafe at GMU-nice place, and pretty cheap for a decent burger on an airport. No ramp fee either. If you're used to flying into PDK then it shouldn't be any issue working with the controllers at GMU either. I'm based over at WDR-PM me if you're ever looking for a...

    How about these baffles?

Hi All, In the quest to keep my oil temp in my 0-300 powered 172 in check on these 100 degree days, I took a good look at my baffling today and noticed a couple things. Pictures are attached here to show what I'm looking at as best I could get them with my phone stuck inside the cowl. On the...

Tall pilot roll call (6'5"+), advice for a beginner

I'm 6'4", lots of legs, and I'm pretty comfortable in a 172. Im still two or three notches from being as far back as possible on the seat adjustment. My older model does not have the adjustable seat height, and I can see that being a bit of a problem is I was much taller. I flew an M model...

    Tie Down Fees

I've paid $25/month at both of the airports I've tied down at. Uncontrolled fields just outside Atlanta. The one I'm at now has two runways, instrument approaches, fuel, etc. A hangar (if you can get one...I think the waiting list is 2+ years) starts at $250.

    Those monsters

I think the ticket to any of these electric commuter planes is going to be to have a removable battery that can be charged at the terminal, and a new fully charged battery swapped in for the flight. No different than filling up the fuel tank really!

    DG adjustment knob stuck in

Thanks all, so can I swap this thing with any old vacuum driven DG or do I need to match make and model? A couple on barnstormers right now I don't mind the price of.

    DG adjustment knob stuck in

No autopilot, plane is a 66 172. Probably will go with the cheapest option here unless it's a minor extra cost for one of the glass relpacements.
