    Troubleshooting 232/429 issues on 530/430

Software updates. Our 530 took a half dozen updates before we could get two G5’s and the 345 everything right. Many of the updates changed how serial ports worked.

    Garmin 345 antennas

It was a miscommunication between my partner and I. We paid for and got a 345 without diversity. That’s a $3000 option. (Yikes). It works so I’m otherwise happy. Thanks for the answers. I appreciate the guidance. I guess I’ll stay out of Canada.

We just had a Garmin 345 transponder installed. It should have two antennas for diversity. One on top and one below but I don’t see them. Seems to works fine (Bluetooth, hard wired to 530 still being debugged). I can’t see any new antennas and google has failed to tell me what to look for...

    New Garmin Avionics 3/25/19

Or it could become another ICARUS. We just added dual g5s and a GAD29B. That combination drives our STEC 60-2 fine and we lost 18 lbs of dual vacuum pumps and associated plumbing and hardware. A very happy day to remove vacuum pumps as a failure mode. No doubt this system has new and more...

Seems like an odd thing omit but I assume all the various ADS-B solutions have similar issues, No? BTW, how did you determine this? I've been looking at ADS-B solutions for a while and I don't recall seeing this discussed in any detail. Thanks for pointing this out. Useful and educational...

    New Garmin Avionics 3/25/19

IF I read it correctly the 375 has a full transponder built in. We were about to put a 345D in but for $3k more I could have a complete backup GPSS unit. DId I read the specs wrong?

Avionics Upgrade - Like winter, it's coming

I just installed two G5 units and I couldn't be happier. So much bang for the buck. I see no need for dual NAV units.

    ADS B suggestions

Depends on your EFB of choice. If you add the FS210, you get birectional flight plans and airway dissections with foreflight. It's looking more and more like the sensible choice for me. As for getting a Lynx installed for a flat $1600. Also, I've never gotten any install with a flat rate...
