Airplane Options That meet my mission

I am coming to that conclusion quickly. The training would be fun, but the time commitment to stay trained and current is or may be significant.

Airplane Options That meet my mission

Well I kinda did want single engine. it should be "greener" about half the annual operating costs. But I might be willing to look at a twin. I heard an old joke once: Q. What is the second engine good for? A. Getting you to the seen of the accident. I laugh every time I hear that.

PP IR, 500 hrs. So insurance and training will have to be a bridge I have to cross at some point.

Airplane Options That meet my mission

I like the TBM but there have been 2 high profile incidents with this plane. 1. I can't find all the details , but I believe 1 was an icing incident with a tail stall. the plane is suposed to be good for Flight into known icing, Not sure if the FAA identified actual cause or probable. 2. I...

Airplane Options That meet my mission

Opening up a new thread to get ideas on answering this question: (I did search for other discussions and could not find what I wanted...) I am looking for an airplane that will meet this mission: 1. Fly at close to 300 MPH (or kts...) 2. Lift about 1500 Useful load (fuel and people) 3. At...

Standard Rate Turns without Turn Coordinator?

I agree learning Timed Turns, Timers in holds and Timed approaches is really cool. Anytime I do an ILS, if it has a LOC with A Time, I alwasy set the clock and see if I can hit it. I don't know of any VOR timed approaches any more, but there were a couple during my training and they were fun too.

Do landings just click one day?

So this seems to get many. It finally clicked with me, when I realized you don't actually flare the airplane, you fly the plane down to the runway and then enter "slow flight" trying not to climb and not to descend. The plane will just settle onto the runway. do final at V_BG, and then after...

BTW, I did try to add a comment and got this: Whitelabel Error Page This application has no explicit mapping for /error, so you are seeing this as a fallback. Thu Sep 08 21:19:48 EDT 2022 There was an unexpected error (type=Internal Server Error, status=500).

That is awesome, I put in RPJ and found "The flight deck lounge" Now we need to add comments so we can recommend when to go there. better on a sunny saturday afternoon in the summer or fall... And a Great place to take your non-pilot friends! One Fix, I should be able to enter either "KRPJ"...

    Currency requirements

Congratulations! One piece of advice I was given is to do 2 each month when you go to the airport to pay your hangar bill. If it is IMC just file and go (you will be current if you do 2 each month, because you will have had 12 in the previous 6 months...) if it is not IMC look for a fellow...

Sonex two seat jet in development

So it is being marketed as a "trainer" but it is not certified so can't be used by a flight school. The number of subsonex jets out there would not justify it's use in transition training. The business model seems incorrect to me. This will never be a cross country machine (<400 miles) it is...

    Cirrus down in Texas

I once saw a video where an old military pilot said an engine out was actually better than a partial power or intermittent power, there is no way I can find it now but it might have been on AOPA... The one think that was drilled into me during training was best glide give you max distance. you...

    100LL Debacle

So the real issue may very well be that there just are not enough pilots. If pilot population and hours were growing each year and plane sales matched or exceeded the pre 1978 sales. Then the companies would have plenty of motivation to invest what ever it takes to solve this problem. That...

Trent Palmer (YouTuber Bush Pilot Channel) Suspended By FAA

Wow,the FAA thinks of everything: Attitude of the violator; The hazard to safety of others which should have been foreseen; clearly not a get out of jail free card. I always thought no bent metal no enforcement....
