Two dead after Mooney door pops open. St Augustine FL

I was always impressed by the pilot and his SO in this one. Well done.

April fools jokes to do on flight instructor

I would highly recommend you do not pull the power in the airplane as a joke. General Aviation is a serious endeavor, and messing around is a ridiculous idea. Maturity and and a sober mind is needed to be safe and successful in Aviation. If you want to have fun, do something on the ground post...

Single Engine down in Nashville - KJWN

I do not have turbo experience... makes sense though that it would be tough to kill the engine with the turbo engine leaned out.

Single Engine down in Nashville - KJWN

I mentioned that in an earlier response....first thing I thought of as I have been stupid enough myself to realize why things were running rough in the descent. The thing is, if your engine starts to run rough you generally go straight to the mixture and power, but if he was low and could not...

Single Engine down in Nashville - KJWN

Is that airplane fuel injected? (I assume). The switch of tanks is the obvious one... keeping the mixture leaned, then panicking and not being able to restart? Seems like a long shot...

    CAPS saves another

I mean I know it is polarizing amongst pilots, but it is tough to argue in certain cases that CAPS saves peoples lives no doubt. I am sure if my engine went out, I would be happy to have a chute as a backup.

Single Engine down in Nashville - KJWN

Right, I always hope when I fly that all adults on board have considered the risk, and I will speak honestly of the risk to them... although they may not truly understand in some cases. Kids have no idea, and no choice. (I am not saying this is the case) but if it turns out in any crash that...

Single Engine down in Nashville - KJWN

2 Adults, 3 small children. Damn, Damn, Damn. RIP. Hate this stuff.

I want to go to OSH 2024... BUT

Cheers all, I am not sure if this year is in the cards, however we will be going at some point, hell or highwater

Lucky escape - LSA reportedly caught in 757 wake turbulence

Yikes. We had a Navajo go down here in Vancouver years ago from Wake turb. Trailing a 767 I believe. Cargo ops, both crew dead. Nothing to take lightly. https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2011/05/27/tsb-2009-plane-crash-in-richmond-caused-by-wake-turbulence/

Hawker 900XP on departure from Grand Junction, CO

That was going to be my next question... why a stall test after TKS maintenance... and what happens if the stall test goes wrong.. interesting.

Hawker 900XP on departure from Grand Junction, CO

RIP. That seems wild that the airplane went into such an aggravated spin that they could not recover from 20k feet? I have no experience with Biz jets, I look forward to hearing from those that do.

    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

I work at a major airport. I can tell you all the ideological infiltration (mandatory pro nouns in email signatures, acknowledging the land we are on before every meeting, etc, etc) has certainly distracted from the core business of running an airport. Regardless of your beliefs or where you lie...

    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

Yeah, just saying I have heard (not here) people angry with the crew for not pulling that CVR breaker... I just think they get a bit of a pass for forgetting that one in this case. I was shocked to see the FA walking around during what appears to be flight when the plug was out. Juan at the...

    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

TBH, in this one I would give the crew a pass. It sounds like the cockpit door had blown open during the decompression, and that the cockpit in general was a bit of a mess of papers... not to mention the crew probably wanted to get off the airplane/debrief/hit the bar... Whatever... not to point...

    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

That is incredible. That center 4 bolt connection is gone... looks to be sheared... and where are the other bolts? Wow.

Planes collide at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport

No blame laid here, and I am in the camp that the Dash was lined up ready to go... would the A350 pilot still be queried (even though I can only imagine how difficult it is to see) that the runway was clear? I wonder though if the outcome could have been avoided had the 350 seen the dash, or...

Planes collide at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport

The video of the impact is very dramatic as would be expected. The Dash was on a taxiway intersecting the runway as the Airbus was rolling out. Tough to see clearly, but I would imagine based on the incident that the Dash did incur onto the runway as the Airbus does not look to go off the runway...

    MSFS2020 Disappointment thread

I fly VATSIM pretty often. Certainly majority is large jets flying IFR... but I like to fly VFR and they handle it pretty decently. But don't expect them to have a good understanding of VFR procedures to be honest.

    Trevor Jacob Crash and Burn

I am sure he will be out quick, but still... nice to see he will actually see the inside of a prison... as white collar as I am sure it will be. I assume lifelong ban from flying as well?
