Flying into Las Vegas from SoCal - suggestions

Been there in 2019, pretty new to US airspace with only +-30 hours then. Flying in VFR was fun and doable, got some vectors here and there, no delays. The fees were reasonable and they even cleaned my windshield. I walked to MGM.

Using flight sim for G1000 transition?

The 'default' MSFS G1000 is not good to practise, it is way too simple and misses a LOT of functions. I used to have a dekstop version for G1000 where you could simulate a track, it had a lot of functions and showed like the real thing. It is the software from Garmin itself.

2019 around this time I was flying around the snow over the Grand Canyon, last week I did it over my own country. We had exceptional amounts of snow and low temps. I use the ipad mini 4 on my knee or attached to right side of the window, not blocking any instruments (sorry pax ha-ha). I know they hate KSMO but this is getting ridiculous!

Here they just keep everything there and make it a “park”. Rent out the spaces for offices and “art projects”... people bike and rollerskate on the runway... some nice event space... Example is Berlin Templehof: https://goo.gl/maps/CP16sVHDdmQcnTVK7 They have a small refugee camp on there as well.

    SSD longevity

The SSD chips on the card were designed to work in Raid 0, 6 drives... calculate the risks haha. Will try a M2 disk soon, curious how they will work.

    SSD longevity

I guess the newer SSDs are more built to last. Running daily my Samsung SSDs for 7 years without big problems. Tried early PCI-E SSD with Raid 0 some years ago... died 3 times and got replaced 3 times as well. Always do your backups !

About the connections: So I found that the fix is doing a reset of all connection settings and re-pairing the devices. I am never going...

Have You Experienced An Engine Failure?

Here in the Netherlands we have very restricted airspace. The whole area around Schiphol / Amsterdam has Class A starting from 1500ft to protect their arrivals and departures, in my opinion way too large Class A but OK... Flat land, so 1300 ft is 1300 AGL. Austro are the newest Diamond JET A1...

Have You Experienced An Engine Failure?

Yup, totally unannounced. A “new” thielert 1,7 JET A1 engine in a DA40 exploded. It was during cruise at 1300ft or so.
