Thinking About Hanging Up My Spurs

That is a great idea!!! I got my CFI rating years ago and only taught a handful of friends and one of my kids. I think I'll enjoy getting into the flight instruction gig part time for something to do. Get started on your rating now.

Thinking About Hanging Up My Spurs

excellent timing post. im about to turn 56 in January and keep thinking about my flying options when I retire. My current goal is to keep our beech travel air until I retire(maybe 66-68 years old) then commit to 2 years of flying trips(alaska/ catalina island, etc....). then sell it and...

Lightspeed Zulu headset sticky control box fix?

i have had nothing but great experience with lightspeed customer service over the years. when my kids were young they use to step on headsets and break something usually once/year . when I sent them back telling them it was entirely my fault and was expecting to pay for the repairs they...

Upgrading to a better aircraft a bad thing?

what a thread drift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The original poster did not ask us for financial advice . he wants a plane and asked us a simple question. if you have something to add about his question then great. Lets not pretend to be his father and remind him of all the reasons owning a plane...

Upgrading to a better aircraft a bad thing?

Buy the c-150 and fly the heck out of it!!! you will know in 1-2 years if you can afford to own an airplane or need to sell it and go back to renting. My pickup truck is 10 years old because I decided to put a new autopilot in my airplane this year instead of a new truck. its all about...

Soybean or cornfield emergency landing debate

i was at a FAA safety seminar years ago and this question was raised. the guy putting it on showed slides of probably 30 planes landing in corn and bean fields. Most all of the ones in the corn where right side up and the ones in the beans were all flipped over. This is a interesting...

    Transponder/Airspace Question

If the transponder is not certified every 2 years it technically should not be turned on. if the original poster doesn't fly where ADS-B is required than getting rid of the transponder would save the hassle/cost of getting the transponder certified every 2 years.

Advice on selling engine, gauges, avionics

since it appears that money is really not an issue for you i would take the above advice of trading in the core and once the avionics get ripped out to sell them on ebay or barnstormers and take what you can get and move on. for me personally the "hassle" of selling old stuff is not worth...

    Marijuana Use

to get back to the OP question. I would definately contact AOPA legal services and run this by them. they are the ones I turn to with any medical questions and they have many resources at their finger tips to find the most appropriate answer. Regarding the thread drift. 1) smoke week/...

    Lightspeed Zulu 1 Repair

I have had many, many sets of lightspeed over the years. their customer service has always been exceptional. many years ago my kids would step on them and break them and I would send them in expecting to pay a repair bill since it wasn't their fault. nope! no charge. i insisted that it was...

New and Don’t know what to do.

Madison 890, sounds like you trust your mechanic. if he signs it off as airworthy go out and fly the heck out of it. when things break(and they will) just get them fix and fly on. good luck getting your PPL
