    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

What do you make of the latest report about loose bolts found on 5 united AC? If accurate, surprised they aren't safety wired and wonder why -900ng are not included in the inspections? Sent from my SM-S901U1 using Tapatalk

    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

Realize the engines are different. Wondering about the fuselage. I "thought" they were different but the seating is identical. Sent from my SM-S901U1 using Tapatalk

    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

Anyone know if the fuselage on the Max9 is the same as the -900? I'm scheduled outbound -900 and return Max9 next week. Both seat maps are the same. They swapped the -900 in for the Max9 on the outbound. Sent from my SM-S901U1 using Tapatalk

    Alaska Airlines explosive decompression 1/5/23

Anyone have any informed idea about how long Alaska will ground them? I've got a flight Monday AM on a max9. No notice from Alaska yet. Sent from my SM-S901U1 using Tapatalk

    Garmin G5’s versus Aspen E5

Not doing an ACU for the SL30. But removing vac and standby vac. Sent from my SM-S901U1 using Tapatalk

Two CDI from single nav source?

Backup AI not required for an E5. Though as I mentioned, I'm thinking about an AV30 anyway. Sent from my SM-S901U1 using Tapatalk

    Garmin G5’s versus Aspen E5

I finally pulled the trigger on the E5. Getting installed this week. I personally dislike the dual G5 form factor, especially the tiny hsi. The E5 has a new high res display and is software upgradeable to the pro series including synthetic vision. But if you ever want a GFC500 you'll need a g5 -...

Total disappointment with 4 local avionics shops

If you're happy with your dual KX155 and just want ifr gps, get a gps175 and an AV30. You'll get hsi for gps signal and the backup AI, etc. Keeps the new stuff separate. Once you start messing with the audio panel and rewiring existing stuff it gets spendy. Also ramona does legit work for sure...

Two CDI from single nav source?

The Aspen is going in place of the AI and DG. I'm removing the vacuum system so no, no relocation for the AI. I've got room to keep both existing CDI. But I'm also considering an AV30 in one of those holes for backup. Sent from my SM-S901U1 using Tapatalk

Two CDI from single nav source?

Thanks everyone. So I "think" I could keep both back up cdi if I'd like. Or I could ditch both as the sl30 has built in cdi indication, just no gs indication. Can't remember if my cdi #2 is a ki209 or ki207 - I'll need to find my docs. I'll review all with my shop. Sent from my SM-S901U1...

Recommend avionics shop in West Coast

Romana Avionics is definitely legit, high quality. Also definitely "full price". Don't expect a bargain, but expect solid work Sent from my SM-S901U1 using Tapatalk

Two CDI from single nav source?

Looking for comments and recommendations to clarify my thinking. My current setup is a GNC355 driving CDI #1 and an SL30 driving CDI #2. I just purchased an Aspen E5 that has an HSI and can receive two nav sources without a switch. Some questions: 1. Can the GNC355 drive both cdi#1 and the...

Plane crash Gillespie Field, San Diego

Tight turn, probably dodging a cloud given our current weather and needed to stay tight. Plus the mountain just north of final for 27r about 2 miles out. No clue why he rejected 17 straight in. Maybe worried about braking action in the wet? Really sad. RIP. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
