    Unique Gift? I hope.

I agree that this is a great gift. I took my sister to Daytona Beach from Clerwater - about 120 nautical miles. It was the first time in a light plane for her. We were going to visit her son who is a student at Embry-Riddle. She did well even though I was placed on course toward a storm...

    CHF (wife)

Dave, The motivation question is difficult. I treat cancer patients nd the motivation is closer to black and white. Get treated and improve survival and most important quality of life. In cases that do not seem as critical, each person has to ask "How debilitated am I willing to get...

Just because of a sentimental reverence, Airplane was a movie from 1980.

High wing vs Low wing, what the four year olds say

Flying a Cessna 182, I got a little upset when my seven year old genius aksed this weekend: "Dad, do you see that plane" I said "yes" and he asked which way it was going. It was banking to our left in the pattern-nothing special. He said that he couldn't tell which way it was going, he...

    Maybe the ultimate Home/Kit Built?

I just have a real need for speed. This is the plane for cross country screeching. Unfortunately, I don't have the skill to build it and probably can't afford to have someone build it for me. I certainly look into it one day.

I think I've found my solution

I have been checking out the Van's Aircraft site. They now produce a rv-10 kit that wil haul 4 people with a 540 260hp. It appears that it is pricey but claims 201 smph. Now that is quick. I am going to build this one someday with the help of my A/P and the lottery.

    Sibling rivalry? Mooney vs Grumman

Caught mine also but the Levy (RON) we know probably wouldn't sell his Grumman.

    Cessna 182 pre-buy Frustration

Thanks for the input. It wasn't too tough to walk away after the craft was misrepresented. But, I did visually inspect this one for damage, corrosion and saw nothing else. A broker friend of the mechanic values this plane at $85,000 if the damage is repaired properly and the mechanical...

    Cessna 182 pre-buy Frustration

The saga continued today when the agent had a Cessna repair manager inspect the plane. He also confirmed that the damage to the rudder, stabilizer and elevator had to be repaired. He suspected backing into something and stressing the elevator and wind damage to the rudder. 8K estimate to...

    Cessna 182 pre-buy Frustration

Update on the pre-buy turn out to be not so bad. It appears that the owner is willing to fix the cylinder (new jug), have the prop pulled and fixed, repair all of the corrosion (rudder hinge and minor interior skin). The rudder and right horizontal stabilizer do not appear the serious and the...

    Cessna 182 pre-buy Frustration

Did all of the mental gymnastics for the last several years. Worked to get the ppl and working toward the instrument. Defined the mission and calculated all of the acceptable costs and made compromises to satisfy my skill and not my ego. Found the plane at a good price, talked over all of the...

    Poll on Gas Prices

I've got a lot of cars but with gas prices going up I drive my Prius to and from work. I save the others for fun. The Prius gets between 45 and 50MPG. The tank is 11 gallons that is good for 450-500 miles. My classic mustang convertible is great when I have the need to burn some gas.

How did you find your plane?

Hoping to buy my first plane this week. I had been flying a 182 at my home airfield. Heard about it from my instructor - seemed reasonable since the owner just bought a new Cirrus, it was likely that he was anxious to sell. Flew it about twenty hours and then went for the pre-buy inspection...
