Building Hangar, what are things to consider

I plan on Building a Hangar in the near future. Have a 182S, would not need it to be big… But there are no restrooms at the airport, hence i thought about making it big enough for an Rv to be parked in there with the plane. What size and door size, have you all found to work best for a 182?

    Best and Worst C182 Models

The only bad ones are the non-WAAS G1000 models. You can no longer buy the WAAS upgrade from Garmin, and can not remove the G1000 as it is part of the certification. Might be able to upgrade to G1000NXi, but that is not exactly cheap. I have a 182S, converted to glass, with other changes. My...

    Air Conditioner value

I looked at my most recent track, in which i departed south to get out from under Class B and then climbed to 5.5k feet. It took 20minutes of flight time, plus 10min on ground for run-up taxi etc... That is 30min to 5.5k ft. The climb from 3k to 5.5 was 6 minutes, hence we can add 6minutes to...

    Air Conditioner value

Living under class Bravo means it will be close to an hour in the cockpit before you get to 8k altitude (with taxi, fly out from under bravo and then climb at a few hundred feet a minute).. Also forget to ever use FF or IFR for coming back as the controllers will put you below 8k far far away.

    How is the Piper Comanche?

A few things to consider: There is a single engine Comanche and a Twin Comanche. Both have pretty much the same fuselage, just one with an engine in front and another with 1 engine on each side. Headroom is very limited and it is tight. I could not comfortably fly it. The newer Comanches allow...

    Air Conditioner value

I just paid full price to get an HVAC installed in my 182S. In Houston, TX it is already too hot to fly without it.

This should be fine for commercial XC, right?

Leg 1-> KAXH - KUXL 116nm Leg 2 -> KUXL - 5R8 19nm Leg3 -> 5R8 - 4A6 456nm (and 573nm from KAXH) I know Leg 2 is less than 50nm, but since it is one flight, it should count? And there is no expiration on the flight? Meaning if I flew this in 10-2022 and want to get my commercial in 10-2032 that...

GSA28 (Garmin Autopilot Servo) fails to update

G3X touch is the primary for all my instrument gauges. Therefore it starts with the main power, as I need to see fuel flow and oil pressure for engine start. When cranking it does not cut out, it stays on just fine.

GSA28 (Garmin Autopilot Servo) fails to update

The G5 has a battery, but nothing else does. For the one servo there is no issue running it off the plane battery. My frustration is really with the GPU, as it is made to reduce 'noise' with modern avionics. Mailed the MFG, if my unit has a defect or if that is normal. And I am going to get a...

    CGR-30P vs EDM-900

I had a CGR-30 combo in my last plane and really liked the unit. However now having a Garmin EIS (G3x touch), the ability to log EIS data with all your other flight data in a simple app (Garmin Pilot) is amazing. Not only for just monitoring how the engine is doing, but also what power setting...

GSA28 (Garmin Autopilot Servo) fails to update

The wiring is done properly, there is 0% CANBUS error during normal operation. The GPU introduced 'unclean' energy I have this GPU: Aviation Ground Power Unit 28V GPU | Aircraft Spruce needless to say I am a little bit unhappy that this 'supposedly' high-end GPU causes 'noise' in the electrical...

GSA28 (Garmin Autopilot Servo) fails to update

Want to document some things I found out, in case it helps anyone else in the future: During install a shop will most likely have to update the firmware, therefore when you get a plane from the dealer there should be no wiring issues For operation the CAN bus has some more error tolerance than...

GSA28 (Garmin Autopilot Servo) fails to update

Mine are not affected by the SB. The weird thing is the other 2 GSA28's did update just fine, so i cant be an issue with the software.

GSA28 (Garmin Autopilot Servo) fails to update

The other servos updated fine, also the G3X touch is auto pushing the update out. When I put the SD card in the G3X touch does not offer loading it again.
