I would like to fly the IVP or the MM, but I expect that I would need more room. (At least with the MM.) Right now, I don't have the courage/confidence/testosterone to fly a single seat a/c! Maybe after I have 500 hours, but we'll talk then.

Whatdaya mean TYPE RATING. It has one engine. It is less than 12,500 lbs. It cannot land on water, more than once. Therefore, she's mine. (If my wife is willing to walk to the grocery store!) :D MarkN

I would have expected that you were lowering gear and flaps before final, but I do not take anything for granted at this point in my education. I would rather ask a stupid question than do something stupid. MarkN

And it is a Single Engine Land, Less that 12,500. All I need is my Complex and High Altitude sign-offs and she's mine! Or does a turbine engine require another sign off? Let's see ...Mortgage the house and sell the cars. Pay cash and I don't need to worry about insurance. Do they make a...

Gismo "I turn final and go to flaps down I verify gear down" - Caused me to think that he was adding flaps and gear on final. This made no sense to me, since I was always told to lower gear at mid-field and first notch of flaps at the numbers. I am in no position challenge Rotor&Wing, but I...

So, why do you wait until final to drop the gear? Most of the retract pilots that I know drop the gear at mid-field on the downwind.

Is it because of mechanical failures or failure to pay attention? No disrespect to the pilot in this video, but my instructor always taught me that no one is to talk once in the pattern. (As in conversations unrelated to landing the a/c.) MarkN

Kent, I need to call my insurance agent on Monday, I will add that to my list of questions. I have asked about the T210 and they said that it would be higher, since it has six seats. Zero time in a twin is $6,500. My rates drop after 100 Hours and then after an additional 250 hours...

Hey Ali G, Gimme some respek. You be dissin' the Malibu and then you be on it. My first question is whether you have actually flown a Malibu. Secondly, I appreciate the recommendation, I think. (Are you recommending the Malibu? Kinda hard to tell there at the end.) I am beginning...

I never had a problems flying the 182 cross-country. Yes, it took time. Yes, I would like to fly faster. However, it is a learning curve for me. Amelia: Having an a/c that could make the trip in seven hours would be great. Although, I try to stay away from the coffee while flying...

Joe, I did not identify either, since I did not have a firm grasp on what I needed. That was part of the reason for posting with out limitations. I doubt that we would have digressed into discussing turboprops if I had capped my purchase price. However, I am glad that we did, since I had...

I'll tell the wife to scratch turboprops off the list. (Since she's not here to defend herself!) Does this mean that I should be looking at the P-Baron? (Or another pressurized piston.)

I was going to ask the very same question. Currently, I use Aeroplanner.com and have to punch in different altitudes.

Without even asking, I get two answers. The bigger of the two was the advantage of a Meridian over a Mirage. I realized one was a turboprop, but did not realize they were more fuel efficient at altitude. I have often wondered why Piper chose to name a plane an "optical illusion." (It looks...

When you look at the Winds Aloft I have always wondered at what point a turbo becomes cost effective. Looking at the image of 12K, I have often wondered if it would be worth flying NW before heading West. (Working up and around the stronger winds.) When I flew the NA 182, I never thought of...

As for tax reasons, I'll leave that to my CPA. When most of your customers are calling you and asking if you can be on the next flight, having my own a/c makes the answer automatic. All they have to do is look at how many times I am flying on the same day I purchased the ticket. (Or first...

So, you plan 157 kts @6000 18gph. Is this considered cruise speed? 75%? 65%? Since I would not fly at 6,000', do I adjust the 157 based upon TAS vs IAS? The reason for asking is that a turbo becomes a game changer on my 1200 nm hops. If we eliminate the wind component, does the...
