    Chart management?

I only meant "NO CHARTS" since that was the gist of this thread. What would you do if you were in IMC without a chart? If I had nothing but backup instruments, I'd climb and use my handheld radio which has a primitive ILS. I've done a PAR approach before so if I had communications, that's a...

    Chart management?

Good discussion. I guess if my iPad, my iPhone and my glass panel all go TU in the soup, then I'd say PAN, PAN, PAN and ask ATC for an altitude, a vector and the frequency of the nearest ILS. I usually print out plates beforehand as well, but this is my plan if I ever found myself without them.

    GA pilot decline

As an engineer, you should know that as soon as we introduce software to override the pilot, we're entering a slippery slope. See the 737MAX for an example. As a former software developer, I can assure you that this is a bad idea.

    Merry Christmas

I've taken my flying to a new level this year and I am very thankful to have this community along for the journey. A lot of learning and a lot of laughs can be had on POA. Thanks and Merry Christmas to all of you. Andrew

FBO will not give me my plane back

Offer a compromise. Start with $250 and be on your way for around $500. Then you're done and you've learned a valuable lesson. As you know, flying isn't cheap, this is just one small example. Besides, you may want to go back there someday.

    Advice on flying into KIND

Here's how this ended up: We filed to KEYE however as we got closer we ended up diverting to KIND due to low ceilings and better wind/runway alignment. Our SR22 didn't have WAAS so we preferred the ILS and big airport lighting to a non-precision approach with a strong crosswind. ATC was...

    Advice on flying into KIND

I'm looking to travel to Indianapolis (IND) from Nashville (JWN). Based on where I'm staying, KIND is the most convenient. Is it reasonable to fly into the big airport there? I'll be in a SR20 and I'm instrument rated. Any insights on costs for landing fees and overnight parking. It looks...

LSA weight limit to be increased to 3600 lb!

This would require common sense from the FAA.

A Limited IFR Certified EFB (Like Basic Med For RNAV)

I've "lost" my iPad due to heat, battery and "update required" all during flight. I would never rely on that thing in the soup.

    Approach or Departure?

When departing a satellite airport near, but not in, Class C, should I address them as Approach or Departure? My real life example is departing JWN and calling BNA.

That time we got stuck at Wilson Bar

I am impressed with the time and effort you put to fill in that hole after you got your plane out. I wish more people were like you.

    John vs. Martha King?

I'm a huge of John and Martha's. The jokes and campiness make the material palatable. I nod off during the Sporty's stuff.

    Commercial Complex Question

My old flying school has a G1000 172S that rents for $165/hr. I love that plane. Its wheels are hardly ever on the ground. I can't believe at that price and frequency it's "horrible for business."

Video: Bringing 2 Passengers To Duluth

Here's a tip from me. No matter what kind of landing you make, always say something like "WOW! Another great landing." I do that even when I drop it in hard because the passengers have no idea; they're only judging by how you react. I always applaud my landings and now my friends and family...
