Would my AI survive a roll?

That's why I won't be doing it by myself. It'll probably be the F14 pilot or the AG pilot in the right seat when I do it. I'm trying to get some time in the Stearman, but he doesn't pull that beast out but a few times a year.

Would my AI survive a roll?

    For a roll...?

Would my AI survive a roll?

Kind of like an F14 pilot taking me up in his Stearman 400? I'm not asking about an aerobatics course. I'm asking about my AI during a roll.

Would my AI survive a roll?

I have a 1972 Arrow II with a Century II autopilot. It has the original AI which, I believe, would make it an Edo-Aire (due to the autopilot). I have some former fighter pilots and a former crop duster living in my neighborhood and a few of them have told me they would take me up and show me how...

What's a Piper instrument cover made of?

How could one not realize that Poly Vinyl Chlorinate is the same as Vinyl? Oh yeah, that was me. I feel like a derka-derk.

What's a Piper instrument cover made of?

This stuff is PVC??? Or does PVC glue also melt ABS? I like the idea of using a glue that melts the plastic. It makes for a very strong repair.

What's a Piper instrument cover made of?

A curious thought about the PlastiFix... Like I mentioned, the "real" CYA you get from a hobby store is some incredible stuff. I had a latch break on a front loader washer and (while I didn't expect it to work) I figured it wouldn't cost me anything to try gluing this little 1/4 square inch...

What's a Piper instrument cover made of?

I really like the idea of that PlastiFix. I had no idea that this stuff could be as modern as ABS. The ancient papyrus seemed that it would be a much more accurate guess. I've used some heavy-duty cyanoacrilate on some plastic parts before and I've been amazed at how strong the "real" stuff is...

What's a Piper instrument cover made of?

If it truely is Egyptian papyrus, that's similar to paper, right? Elmer's glue should do the trick in that case.

What's a Piper instrument cover made of?

My instrument panel cover is showing cracks and signs of wear in my 1972 Arrow. It still goes out and in in one piece, but I'd like to take care of the cracks and such before it officially becomes multiple pieces. I know I could just buy another two-piece unit for a couple hundred dollars, but...

Piper Arrow trim gets stiff at 150 mph.

You are right. I don't get it. It hasn't changed in over 200 hours. I'm not scared that I'm going to fall out of the sky in the next two weeks. Read back on page 1. I did have a mechanic look at it.

Piper Arrow trim gets stiff at 150 mph.

Why do people assume I'm not going to fix the airplane? Just because I'm not going to ground it doesn't mean I'm not going to fix it. Why would I be looking for a part number to NOT fix the airplane?

Piper Arrow trim gets stiff at 150 mph.

There is a balance weight in the tail for the PA28s. In fact, there was an AD on them. If I remember correctly, it had to do with cracking of the tube if you didn't have the upgraded one. As far as paint goes, I have a strong suspicion that this airplane has its original paint. As far as...

Piper Arrow trim gets stiff at 150 mph.

I'm much more of an idiot than dealing with a jack screw. The tires also have visible wear. The spark plugs aren't new, either. The mags are fresh, but I coupled them with used spark plugs! I'm a COMPLETE MORON! Listen to the airplane telling me something? Didn't I come here asking for a part...

Piper Arrow trim gets stiff at 150 mph.

Well, maybe I can benefit from your guy's expertise... how worn is my jack screw? How stiff does the trim get? How far out of adjustment is my clutch? How out of shape is my trim cable?

Piper Arrow trim gets stiff at 150 mph.

The cable is not slipping off the pulley, nor the drum, nor is anything rubbing. And, as EricVKX stated, this may be something that's not unusual for a PA28. Resistance will increase with speed. The human hand may not even feel the difference. My electric trim may have a loose clutch. And I...

Well, mow that I look again, #37 is listed as "SHAFT - stabilator trim." I thought it was pointing to a washer.

Piper Arrow trim gets stiff at 150 mph.

So true. Someone loved this airplane in the past - and it wasn't either of the last two owners. It's taken the better part of a year to get this thing back in shape.
