Anyone with an amphib in range of St Louis feel like putting that fire marshal in his place? He can't bully everyone. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Icon A5 lands on river causing inadvertent fire department response

AND if you accept them. The magic word is "unable". Granted, you should use good judgement before refusing the controller, but if your destination lies inside their airspace, they can't just tell you to take a hike. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

    Study of motorcycle crashes

Only time I would expect ditching the bike to be better would be if there was no chance at all of slowing down enough to help. At least then, it's only your own momentum trying to kill you, rather than yours + 500lbs of bike. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Good way to weed out the ****ty drivers, though. I bet there were fewer fatalities the following years. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Get a GoPro and a suction cup mount. A bit pricey, but the FoV and image quality beats everything else on the market. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Perhaps he was just having fun launching it? I'll do the same thing on my bike, if the speed limit is high enough to be fun to get to quickly. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Where would you have diverted to?

He's either a troll, has an agenda, or is genuinely too daft to understand that horizontal distance may not be a time-limiting factor with sufficient vertical distance. I leaning towards option 1. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Where would you have diverted to?

The guy who insists, against all evidence to the contrary, that the pilot who brought a damaged aircraft to a safe landing without additional loss of life is wrong. I would love to see your evidence that this outcome was the result of luck, and not the result of sound ADM and excellent...

Where would you have diverted to?

I'm going to land at whatever airport I can get to without undue stress to an airframe which has suffered unknown catastrophic damage. Am I going to pull a 2G spiral descent to get to the airport under me when there is a better one I can reach by gliding in a straight line? Hell no I'm not...

Where would you have diverted to?

That graph shows a 15 minute descent with an average ground speed of 350 mph, giving a roughly 90 mile radius. Direct distance from MDT to PHL is 73 miles... In terms of time, both airports were the same distance. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
