    Garmin 175 holding question

The fact it's doing that in the simulator kind of rules out the autopilot. From the video, I can't see enough of what you are doing to know what the issue is, but it should follow the magenta line if the approach is activated. I suspect there is something in how you are setting up the approach...

    Garmin 175 holding question

What's the rest of your avionics? Specifically, do you have a G5, GI275, Aspen etc? or as @RussR mentioned a GPSS module? A couple thoughts come to mind; - What mode is the STEC 30 in? Generally Heading follows GPSS signals - In heading mode, no GPS involved, if you make a large change in...

    G5 Question

It's all correct. The key is the X is white. It is showing that the heading bug is not operating because the unit is following GPS data. There is no error, just showing that it's in GPSS mode and NOT heading mode. The symbol under the X is an image of the heading bug to show that it's not the...

Using Foreflight as a Student Pilot

It's a lot easier to figure out FF after you can do it manually than the other way around.

Was it cold or were you cold? I've found mine doesn't work well with cold hands.

How much money should I expect to make in the industry??

Keep in mind that starting pay is WAY different from what some of the 20year + folks make. Look up some of the Regionals to get an idea of the bottom end. Also keep in mind that demand/supply and therefore pay can be very volatile and if you are low in the ranks, pay can move to zero.

Rudder Trim vs. Rudder Rigging Problem - Which is it?

I highly doubt the problem is in the trim control and buying a new one will not fix it. Exactly what is the problem you notice in flight and in what flight regimes? The trim control itself is dead simple and I've never heard of one being "broken". The rudder neutral check is also pretty simple...

A letter from the Southeast United States

And how specifically should people do that? I get the sentiment, but from a practical standpoint, what do you want to happen?

    IFR flight plan @ waypoint

I'd suggest that might be a challenge in busy airspace like near NYC.

    Fuel rewards credit cards.

My Costco card gets the 4% on avgas and because of the way my airport is set up, I get the 4% on hangar rent as well. @JOhnH, you might try to buy avgas with the Sam's card once just for giggles and see if the discount comes through. There's a new Costco in Daytona, which I think is not far from...

Ferry flight lawsuit (mods please help with title)

Not in any practical sense. One must prove that it is frivolous. That has it's own expense and is rarely worth it. What people are suggesting is the "English Rule", you lose, you pay. Very different from what we have now.

    Happy Holiday, POA!

Years ago I worked for the company that owned Pickett. Maker of fine slide rules. I worked there about the time that HP and TI came out with engineering calculators that pretty much obsoleted the slide rule. The rest of the company made stuff that the combination of Desktop Publishing and CAD...

California FBOs Told To Stop Selling 100LL, Switch To G100UL

Agree with your points, my only point is that's independent of where the octane comes from. 100UL has met that threshold and been pretty extensively tested.

California FBOs Told To Stop Selling 100LL, Switch To G100UL

As @Half Fast said, it doesn't matter where the octane comes from. If you have high enough octane, those things don't matter, or at least are no different from what you'd get with lead.

    Is this legal???

I believe they both do and don't depending on definition of visibility. My understanding is the lens is opaque, but there are forward facing cameras so you can see "outside".

    High CO Readings

10 ppm is high in normal flight anyways. Think the full throttle/rich might be just exacerbating an existing condition. Agree with the other comments on exhaust issues. Was it inspected as part of the new engine install?
