    Trouble maintaining level flight

If you’d like text references to the lengthy commentary contained within this thread of responses, I’d highly recommend spending some time in chapter 5 of the Pilot’s Handbook (free from the FAA). There is a section called “Aircraft Design Characteristics” which goes in-depth on topics like...

The ‘What’s in your panel’ thread

It's rather intentional for two reasons: (1) I spend most of my time flying single pilot IFR for work and personal travel (2) When my wife and/or any of my 4 kids are with me, mount an iPad on the co-pilot panel for in-flight entertainment.

    I love my Cherokee but..

Plug your music device of choice into your panel and play this song as they fly by.

    Dulles Class B VFR Transition

(FYI - if you’re trying to find FLY charts on ForeFlight, you can go to the Documents tab at the bottom, then click on the FAA “drive” on the left, then look for the folder called “FLY charts”)

@Deelee perhaps it is the VFR Flyway Planning Chart Baltimore-Washington? You can find it on ForeFlight and other apps as well for download.

My trip down to / back from the avionics shop for “phase 2” of the renovation / modernization of my C182F. Headed south: Headed home: The integration to the STEC 55X is magical. My commuting for work will be far better for sure.

Which ADSB out solutions have “privacy” options

If I were a creative person with a penchant for litigation, I’d try using a lawsuit under GDPR, CCPA and/or other privacy legislation coming out to try and affect change. It would likely be faster and cost less money than working with politicians who these days are sponsored like NASCAR.

    VA airport recommendations

If you are seeking more amenities for family options, KJYO is in Leesburg VA and there are tons of options for food and other things in proximity. If you have $20 in your pocket I can even arrange babysitting with one of my college-aged daughters for an hour. No restaurants onsite, but lots of...

    Engine compression?

I attended the AOPA fly in Frederick MD this past weekend, and Adrian Eichhorn was teaching a maintenance class which discussed this exact topic. I also got the above-referenced poster from AOPA defining the anatomy of a valve failure. A couple of lessons which are applicable here they covered...

Is six point egt worth it on an O-470

The pendulum of opinions on this discussion ultimately represents your personality / preferences. I'm analytical; thus (and not really surprising) I very much appreciate the data / information my EDM730 provides. Take a look at the [attached] pictures - perhaps it will provide some good...

5 months unemployment, followed by losing my father, followed by advanced stage skin cancer and resultant surgeries.. I'm finally back on the upswing (both physically and mentally). It was a tough year. I determined it was a great time to get my 182 caught up - I had an autopilot install and...

    63 Cessna 182F 0470R #5 not firing at idle

I have a ‘63 182F with a higher-time (1430 hrs) O-470-R and see exactly the same performance. Recently I moved to a hangar with power and now have the luxury of an engine heater for the winter, so the cold weather side of the equation has been minimized. I’ve not found any arguments in my...
