    Need engine advice/help...

Is this conversion done with a new engine or did you overhaul your engine and then add the conversion? Who did this for you and what advantages did you see in the 10 extra horsepower?

    Need engine advice/help...

I'll try to keep this brief. But.... 172K with the stock engine. We thought we were taking great care of the engine and plane. Recently replaced interior and added two G5's and the GFC 500 AP as well as new transponder and Garmin GPS (IFR). We have had an oil leak for over a year that has been...

    Interesting checkride stories

My PPL check ride went very well and I passed with flying colors. But after the oral and the preflight, we climbed in the plane and I organized all my charts, etc. I called up the tower for my instructions and then the DPE says "how far do you think we can go today?" Not knowing what he...

Flew a C177R Cardinal Yesterday for the First Time

What kind of payload are you guys realistically getting in your 177’s? Is it a true 4 person plane? I thought it was more 3 person and 4 with less fuel type plane.

Light weight, collapsable, 2 wheel electric scooter for airplane?

We have two GoTrax XR Ultra scooters. They have a “reliable” range of about 12 miles though they are advertised as 17 mile range. They have a top speed of 15mph. 4 hours for a full charge. About $360.00. They weigh about 26 lbs. I shopped until my eyes were crossed. The important things IMO...

    Foreflight question

I’ve got performance plus version 12.4. What do you have?

    Foreflight question

I had a trial subscription to FlyQ and one thing I really liked about it was the wind indicator. It was large and easily visible (and brightly colored with a big arrow pointing in the wind direction). In foreflight I can also turn on the winds aloft and select the altitude of the winds I want...

I'm too old to push my 182

I have the Best Tugs and it is awesome. Mine is a 172. But it moves it with little to no effort. We had a starter problem upon returning (thankfully) and we use the tug to get from the gas pump back to our hangar with no problem (about 300+ yards). It is expensive. But it is a one time...

    New (to me) headset maker

So I ordered a headset from this company about a month ago. First of all, I had a hard time getting updates on shipping. It did say I should receive them by May 8. Then I got tracking info for DHL. That's when I realized they were coming direct from China. Now the DHL website says they are...

    Carrabelle X13 info

The wife and I are flying down to Carrabelle in the morning for some lunch. Can anybody give me insight into transportation (do they have Uber?, bikes, courtesy car?) and any tips on the airport there? Lunch suggestions also appreciated. I’ve done my research regarding runway length, etc. Just...

Well I finally joined the club...

Passed my check ride today to become a private pilot. It’s been an unusually long road with some twists and turns in life. Almost three years from that first discovery flight! I don’t post often but I have been an avid reader and would be remiss if I did not thank this forum for all the...

    Foreflight and AP

Azalea Aviation in Adel, GA (15J). Bill Clapp is the A&P there. He's amazingly slow. But seems to do good work.

    Foreflight and AP

Thanks for that info. We just had a Garmin Aera 660 installed and the AP should go in within the next month. Like your ifly, it should fly a plan but not make precision approaches. I’m super excited to get this done.

    Flight lesson from hell...

I feel your pain. I went up once with an instructor who seemed like he was on adderol the entire time. Talked a million miles an hour and raised his voice when anything wasn't perfect. He also acted as though he was doing me a favor to be in the cockpit with me. That was my last lesson with...

    iPad Mini Suction Mounts

Thanks for the suggestion. I like the x grip because I can slide my iPad to one side and that allows more visual field for instruments/outside viewing. To each his own.

    iPad Mini Suction Mounts

I use the x grip with the iPad mini 4 and mount it to the far left of the windscreen (C172K). I don’t care for the yoke mounts. This has worked very well for me and I have had no problems with it falling. Good luck.

    Foreflight and AP

I assumed that was the case. Is there an AP you can recommend that would be cost effective ($2-3K) that we could use with an AP (specifically the TT) and pull and sell in a couple of years if we decide to go with an upgraded IFR GPS?
