FlyBlackBird.com: Yet another desires to be the Uber of the Skies

Ooo, no. Don’t assume VC means smart or not easily fooled. I’ve seen a CEO getting several VC investments from several smart people adding up to to about $50m, with nothing but vaporware and empty promises of something that has no hope of ever making money or getting sold. He just personally...

    Book of Mormon (the Musical)

Not really. If you think about it - if instead of making fun of Jesus and Joseph Smith and what not, they made fun of let's say Zeus and Hermes, the show wouldn't work. All I'm saying is that the humor doesn't stand by itself. If it was Zeus they had parading on the stage with a massive...

    Book of Mormon (the Musical)

I saw it, but didn't find it funny. It's centered on shock value jokes which only works if you're religious - like parading Jesus around with a huge balloon penis. If you're not religious however, the shock-laughter is gone and the show becomes mediocre without that.

    November Chem Trail formula

Geez, no!! You're putting Sterilize in the Mind Control tank, and Mind Control in the Sterilize tank! This is going to end up sterilizing a bunch of old people in Fort Lauderdale, and getting a bunch of young immigrants in Miami to get out and vote. It's going to turn that entire state blue...

    First driverless car pedestrian death

I don't think this is a vehicle problem. I think it's a company attitude problem. Tesla's has around 40% fewer accidents on autopilot. Uber is nowhere there that. (Their miles-between-accidents are < 10k on average.) The difference is Tesla insists that drivers keep their hands on the wheel...

    First driverless car pedestrian death

Cirrus had a fatal crash within the first 5 hours of flight. By the calculation method used above Cirrus should have by now killed ~2.4 million people. They somehow haven't, and has since become one of the safest GA airplane to fly. One cannot extrapolate a trend from a sample set of 1.

Another crash in San Diego, ugh. SR22T this time

Witnesses says he did pull the Chute at tree-top level. His max reported altitude was 475 ft before he started going down. I wonder if he was waiting for 600 ft to be able to pull and since he was not able to reach that, he hesitated.

    Interview with a Millenial

Get him an Arduino instead and some fun sensors. It would mean you have to learn it as well though - it's not something you can drop on a kids lap and say: "Go figure it out". But it's fun.

    Interview with a Millenial

What is the stereotypical boom time of the PC you would say? Late 90's? PC sales for 2017 are up 300% since 1997. Car sales are up 12.5%. Is the car dead? The press prints whatever headlines people will click on. "PC dying" will scare people who work on PCs. Click. Click. Some new scenarios...

    Replacements for Adobe Creative Cloud

I know someone who absolutely believes software shouldn’t be sold (nor music or movies) - you should only ever pay for atoms, not bits. He has no qualms pirating any and all software - since he thinks it should all be free. The irony? He creates software for a living and has made several...

Will the new tax plan revitalize the Middle class and help Aviation?

Huh? I’m also a 1%’r in a blue state and I’m getting about a $50K/year tax break. (Still not in favor of the bill and will be using half of that money to donate to challengers against GOP members who voted for it.) But still - if you’re a 1%’r and paying more - get a new tax attorney.

Here is potentially why GA is doomed

It's more than that. I live in an area filled with 10s of thousands of millennials who all earn over $100k and most of them earn over $150k. Go to the marina - filled with millennials. Ski resorts - filled with millennials. Race tracks - filled with millennials. Golf courses - filled with...

Haha. That's a strange way around. I have severe claustrophobia and can't stand commercial flying for this reason - enclosed tube and all that. But a small airplane with large windows doesn't bother me at all - it's like being in a car.

    A Candid Question About Flying

Has he actually tried flying in a small plane? The fear of commercial flying can be a different thing that won't necessarily exist in a small plane. Commercial flying fears for me is (severe) claustrophobia, fear of the unknown, fear of not being in control. That doesn't exist on a small plane...

    Hobby Flying

The one doesn't always imply the other. I'm terrified of flying commercial. Truly terrified - sweating, shaking, heart pounding etc. To the point where my hands will start sweating just watching a movie like 'Flight'.
