Fatal Cirrus crash Mustang Beach Airport 04-24-2021

Sure sounds like a go-around accident. In 182's/206's its something we must practice constantly. Trimmed for landing, the initial pitch up can surprise even the most seasoned pilot. A lot going on. Power, right rudder, flaps, all while trimming a lot. I suspect the most common issue is...

    I cleaned my belly tonight.

Negative problems with GOJO. No harsh chemicals and it is as safe to use on your aircraft as it is on your hands. I have tried it all and GOJO is the way to go...just make sure it's the "no pumice" kind. I smear it on with a shop towel from front to back then go back and wipe it off...

    Another 182 Question

I'm in the full power to cruise camp unless the POH specifically prohibits it. I have had to smack the hand of a couple of CFI's during BFR's & IPC's. I remind them to get current in engine management...until then leave it to me. Bob

    Actual ifr question

What Tim said. When we practice multiple approaches in actual conditions at local airports we will file from KXYZ to KXYZ and enter the local airports where we plan to shoot approaches into the route. In the comments we add "multiple practice approaches". Bob

Turbo leaning question - not LOP

Ski, I highly recommend attending the Advanced Pilot Seminar (APS) in Ada, OK. They also have an online course that is just as informative. Absolutely wonderful and "eye opening". Totally changed the way I operate aircraft engines. BTW, I'm flying tomorrow and I'm going to see if I can...

Turbo leaning question - not LOP

So what is off scale? There is no maximum EGT. I would think variations in EGT would be a better indication of a problem. I have always thought of "off scale" as one EGT much higher or lower than the rest. The EGT's in the pic provided show realtively uniform EGT's with the hottest being the...

Turbo leaning question - not LOP

I occasionally fly (tailwind or just killing time) my T182T LOP. No problems after 750 hours on the tach. CHT's stay nice and cool. I pull the MP back to 28" and prop to 2300 and do the big pull to about 11.5 GPH then add MP. Usually 30" /2300 12.5GPH 145TAS @7500 so I lose about 4-5...

What plane would you choose for this mission?

AUS to COT? T182T or T206H no doubt in my mind. I fly about the same route SAT-LRD as well as HBV over to CRP and down to the valley. I have owned Mooney, Cessna's, Pipers and have flown Bo's. The T206H was the best for the mission, hands down. I loved the Mooney speed but it just wasn't...

    172 Landing Technique

I agree with all but i found that the learning really began when I no longer had a Cfi sitting next to me. Dual instruction is great but I learned a lot more about myself and the plane when I was solo. Just practice and itcwill click just like anything else.

Mooney 201 landing speeds, instructors, blah blah blah

It has been awhile but if I remember correctly, I used to be around 65-70 on short final in the M20J. I do recall that during my initial checkout in the plane that the CFI had me coming in way too fast. After ditching him, I was able to experiment and found that 65-70 was perfect and could get...
