    Rental Car hint/tip/gripe/trick/review/kvetch Thread

Go is very good, goes above and beyond with FBO based service, and is solely a "private" aviation service provider (though that is jet traffic first and foremost). However, based on the "price sensitivity" of many POAers - I would expect the next thread to be about being gouged for the Go...

This awesome airplane is not right for you if you need to see the logbooks

And it could easily be argued that it is you who wouldn't be serious about selling by using such an antiquated way of sharing the logs. I want to see the logs, but now have to send you money and you'll snail mail be a CD? NEXT......

    Cherokee 180 wings corrosion?

I suggest these mechanics are either scared to tell you the full truth or don't want any more work. They should be telling you where you can take it for the extra testing.

    Switch from ground to tower

KRVS (Tulsa), KDWH (Houston) and KAPA (Denver) are three that come to mind as having Ground expect you with them until they switch you over (including "advise when runup complete"). All of those advertise it clearly in ATIS.

    Door Dash ?

Get several services downloaded and setup (DoorDash, UberEats, Grubhub) - many restaurants are serviced by multiple apps, but the offered options do vary by app.

    Insurance

The airplane insurance industry is typically not a replacement cost model like you see in houses. It is an Agreed Upon Value model. Generally speaking, getting what you have or can prove you have above an average value for type/year is beyond the effort most agents will put in for you in...

    Large Gate Opener Suggestions? TTF

It's definitely a "2-can" budget  Had one installed across a overside driveway opening last year: 22' iron gate (just plain, not ornamental) and roller hardware, big liftmaster opener, remotes, standing keypad, safety sensors, and opener sensor on the inside. All in was right at $15K, so...

Flying Job for Retired Dude who doesn't want to constantly be gone

As you are networking around, I'd use the time you've got in the next 10 years to take the occasional right seat fill-in opportunities with any corporate/private operations around you. Give you some experience and a chance for them to get to know you. Very well meet the guy who you'll replace...

    Best airport in OKC

I'd go to OKC, but wouldn't think twice about PWA either. I like AAR at OKC over Atlantic, but both fine and 100LL looks priced the same.

My post was censored and taken down by EAA on their forum.

You're an ex-employee who left because of philosophical differences over the long-term evolution of a specific program you worked on? You didn't like the changes and rather than just leave and find a better spot somewhere, you are disgruntled and publicly deriding your ex-employer through their...

When does insurance rates not improve with hours logged?

    Corporate Flight Departments

Over about the last 10 years of operating our one plane department we have moved between two different FBO's and a hangar owned by the 135 operator whose certificate we are leased to (at 3 different airports). Each move was chosen based on 1) facility quality/amenities and airfield services and...

Free PIC hours to be my safety pilot (KAPA Denver area)

So all of this angst and effort in multiple posts on this board alone to save $1000? Seriously, if you have the time available you've indicated and have an instructor available at those times - KNOCK IT OUT! Who knows, you might even learn something from them.

    Noonish at the Airport

I still mostly enjoy seeing the ones that nest around our ranch, but did lose a lot of the majestic awe of them after losing 9 calves over a couple weeks a few years back. Neighbors kept telling us they thought the first few calves were killed by eagles. I thought that was far fetched until one...

    How long to schedule plane?

Considering you are still getting back in the swing of things and comfort zone, nothing at all wrong with taking a little extra time in the pre-flight (no reason to add urgency and worry about time) and there is nothing wrong with giving yourself a cushion on getting back before the next renter...

[NA] Brooks shoes and knee soreness?

Long time since I reffed basketball, but cross trainers worked for me - even all day doing youth games back to back for 8 hours. I never wore the cross trainers for any other activities as I've always found a good running shoe to be my preferred all day shoe. Of course...that was a long time...

Received a denial for third class medical due to OCD.

What does the "experienced AME/HIMS AME" you retained to support you through this process have to say? Seems to me you've invested in their services and that would be a better avenue for "what do we do next?" than seeking internet advice.
