Looking for someone to draw up a Field Approval + 337 for a B&C backup alternator

Seems like the hard part would be the “field” approval part. In theory, the FSDO inspector may want to physically look at it. I’ve done numerous field approvals, but always within proximity to my region. Do you have an IA who will be signing off on the installation itself? Where is the...

Navworx receives a "stop order" from FAA

Anybody know if Navworx made it to Oshkosh? They were supposed to have an updated STC to cover Garmin WAAs units as an approved source, but I have not heard back on that from their distributor. Their web site is rather stale, but they may just be busy with the FAA work. Anybody have any...

    New England Vacation Ideas

I beleive you can camp on the beach adjacent to the airport on Fishers Island. I love the other Islands, especially Block Island. Portsmouth and Hampton New Hampshire are great places to visit...one has a really long runway, one relatively short. Someone mentioned Poughkeepsie, NY...visit the...

    Navworx rising?

I see a switch for Blue Tooth to WiFI in John's diagram. Any noted performance difference with an iPad?

    Navworx rising?

John Thanks much!! This is exactly what I was hoping for. Just a couple of follow up questions. I had hoped to use the 327 to send baro to the 600B. You mention above that it is possible, but ended up with a new encoder anyway. Do you think the 327 would provide the baro without the need for...

    Navworx rising?

Has anybody installed a 600B in combination with a GNS-430W and GTX-327? Would love a PIREP.

    Trouble climbing above 3,500

My comment about mixture was simply a troubleshooting question that may help point To the cause, like carb., intake leaks, blockage, etc. As others suggested, would be a good idea to have your mechanic take a look at it. You are barely getting to Acro altitudes.

    Trouble climbing above 3,500

Rich mixture? Have you tried leaning to see if you can get more power? Are you literally down to zero rate of climb at 3500'.

Cirrus SR20 Fuel Injection, Mixture Settings, Altitude Compensation

So basically, this altitude compensation works with the throttle full forward and the mixture full forward? For those who fly this way, has anybody monitored fuel flow and EGT during a climb to see how well it works? when you come off full throttle, does it tend to go rich, or is it...

    A&P perks

Getting an A&P was one of the best things I ever did. I got mine in college, years ago. Not only did it provide me a career that has exceeded my expectations, but it has allowed me to more easily afford aircraft ownership. You will be able to do most of your own work. You will need to get...

    Auto-lean in a Mooney M20

I think only the Diamond diesels have FADEC. Regarding Mooney, I think only the Porche Mooney had FADEC. As I recall, all have been converted to a traditional Lycoming or Continenetal. Can't think of any others at this time. The ones I am familiar with were STC kits and I don't think they...

    Auto-lean in a Mooney M20

Replacement at oil change is a thought. Will have to consider that. Ultimately the question is, would people buy it? There are some experimental folks flying with O2 displays and there was even an STC for one a few years ago, but I guess it is no longer available. lead fouling did limit...

    Auto-lean in a Mooney M20

HI I actually have it on paper and it would not be a difficult change to the Auto-Lean. It would respond faster. The problem is the lead. In talking to folks who use it or have used in on avgas fueled aircraft, they start becoming inaccurate after anywhere from 50 to 150 hours and must be...

    Auto-lean in a Mooney M20

Sorry to raise an old post, but I came across this and wanted to respond and provide some information about Auto-Lean. Auto-Lean is a computer that reads EGT and controls a linear actuator that is attached to the mixture control via a quick disconnect. The software adjusts the speed to...
