Katama on Sunday - last call!

OK, last call! Anyone else going to be there...? :wineglass:

    Quick Links

Is there any way to rearrange the menu bar so that Quick Links are more to the left? As it is now it's a bit of a pain as I usually need to scroll to the right to see that dropdown (especially when I'm at a client and trying to keep this in a small window). Kind of defeats some of the purpose...

    Jeppesen Skybound Problem

(Sorry - I cross-posted this to AOPA, too - I don't know if everyone goes both places!) I just got my Jeppesen $kybound to update the data card in my 430 but I am having trouble installing it on my primary computer (it does, however, work on another computer I tried it on so it's not a hardware...

    Garmin 430 updates and questions

I just picked up my Tiger with its new Garmin 430 installed. Does Jeppesen have the lock on database updates? Do I need to just buy the card reader and update service directly from them or are there better places to get it? Also, I have never flown behind a 430 before, or any other IFR GPS...

    Trip planning trouble

I would desperately like to plan some trips in my newly acquired '79 Tiger that will have a Garmin 430 when I get it back next week. I'm a capable 625 hour instrument rated pilot in Massachusetts. But when I look at planning a weekend trip next month I can't figure out how to actually pull it...

    My new (to me) Tiger

I didn't want to hijack the other thread but I'm always happy to talk about myself (just ask anyone around me). My new Tiger has been great. It took about an hour of pattern work a couple of weeks ago to finally get the landings figured out - it's quite a bit different than my Skyhawk of...

Collings Foundation open house this weekend

A bit late notice, but I wanted to point out the Collings Foundation open house in Stow, Massachusetts this weekend. More details at http://www.collingsfoundation.org. Well worth checking out this amazing collection of vintage airplanes, vintage cars (including Al Capone's car - not a replica...

    Aviation art

I'm looking for a good source of aviation photos and artwork. I'd like pictures of planes, airports, etc. Any suggestions?

    Show me your seat

The seat of your plane, that is. I'm re-doing the interior of my Tiger and need to come up with a good seat design (leather). Whatcha got...?

    Grumman Tiger pitot cover

Silly question, perhaps, but what size is the pitot tube on my '79 Tiger? I need to get a cover for it - looks like I can get either a 3/4" or 5/8" plug for it...

    United States VFR Wall Map

Does anyone know of a good VFR wall map? I found this one: http://www.sportys.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?DID=19&CATID=92&Product_ID=4113&count=3&Pcount=5 but I am wondering what else there is to compare it to. I'm looking for something for both display and for planning purposes.

    Airnav.com FTP data?

Years ago you could FTP airnav.com's databases, which I then imported into Lotus Notes and wrote a distance/time calculator for. My data needs updating but I can't seem to access it from Airnav any moe. Anyone have any ideas? Or another place to get a database of coordinates for all airports?

How to wash and wax an airplane

:cheerswine: Ah, now this is the way to get things done! Next week I'm going to make them do the belly... :D And after they finished we took a brief intro tour - thankfully my son likes the Tiger better than he liked the Skyhawk, which he virtually refused to fly in. Maybe we can actually take...

    Coming home!

:goofy: Woohoo! I talked to the mechanic today and my Tiger is finally ready to be picked up. He said the new engine is running great and the plane is in great shape. Let's hope he's more right than the guy who did my pre-buy inspection! :) If the weather is ok in the morning I'm heading out...

    Checklists

I'm curious about what other people do for checklists. I've always obsessed over my customized checklist that I modify every now and again. What do other people use? If you have a customized format that you like, post it here for others to see and share.

    Switching tanks

So I come from the Cessna world of "Both" tanks and have never had to worry about when to switch. If/When I finally pick up my Tiger, though, I need to figure this switching thing out. What strategies do people use? A friend suggested that he burns 30 mins off the left in his Archer II, then...

    Not yet

On Monday my newly overhauled engine arrived at the airport where my new (to me) Tiger has been stranded for 6 weeks. Over the course of several phone calls since last week I was assured by at least 2 people that I would be flying by Friday, so I started to make plans to go out and pick up the...

    Bored at "work"

OK, I've never been able to keep up with posts like this before. Don't know what's up today, but I'm reading new posts as fast as they are coming in - must be a slow day at PoA. C'mon, everyone - post faster!

    Am I bad luck??

Who the heck did I **** off? I sold my old '65 Skyhawk with midtime engine to buy a newer hopefully more reliable '79 Tiger and don't even make it home before swallowing a valve. Then, I sold my old piece of junk 1980 Suzuki GS850L that I've had for 13 years (that had problems, but never...

    Engine is on it's way!

Engine is on its way! Recap: I bought a 1979 Grumman Tiger in March and swallowed a valve bringing it home from Dayton, OH to Massachusetts on Easter Sunday. I ended up in Candanaigua, NY (D38), bit the bullet and had the engine shipped off to an overhauler (this original engine had 1900 hours...
