    Ammo shortages

Lol I just sold my 60mm mortar this year, never got to shoot it because I’m weak and it was such a PITA to transport by oneself A 40mm however is a much different story

    Ammo shortages

A lot of it is panic buying, I spoke to my RSR rep yesterday and was told that the manufacturer’s are still filling orders. This isn’t the same sort of shortage we had during 2020-2021. That said it definitely does hurt, I just paid an extra 55 dollars for a case of 9mm than I otherwise...

    What about Autism?

My recommendation would be that if his case is moderate to mild, go sport pilot. That’s what I did, especially with MOSAIC so close

Medical with 3 issues - went to soon.

No sir, I have not. I do plan on going sport pilot as recommended in the short term, however Basic med is my long term goal. In the meantime I hope the weight increase comes soon for LSA.

UND Hosts Summit on Mental Health in Aviation

WTF I really want to see the source material on that. If that’s truly the case, that’s damning on a whole different level.

Medical with 3 issues - went to soon.

Understood, however I question at what cost has those policy’s been pursued. With regards to the medical for the sake of argument, if for every 100 people in HIMS 1 person had a medically related accident, should it not be viewed through the lens of allowing 99 other pilots to fly which...

What is an FAA Psychiatric Exam for? Does a childhood ADHD meds history require it?

Annoying, but tolerable, alas if it only didn't cost so much. But at least it's not a blanket no.

Medical with 3 issues - went to soon.

That is excellent news sir! Job well done, and congratulations to the new airman :D

Medical with 3 issues - went to soon.

At this point I’m have tempted to get a federal explosive license and a commercial drivers license as a means of further highlighting the absurdity of the medical process. Along with getting my congressman involved to see if there is anything they can do to help. Human beings are complex, there...

    Going to HIMS Neuropsychologist?

My apologies Rushie, what did you mean by that? Edit* I looked it up on urban dictionary, yeah it sort of sucked for the first few weeks afterwards, because whenever my dog started barking at the front door, I’d get a bit nervous that I was going to get another knock. That quickly subsided...

    Going to HIMS Neuropsychologist?

I’d really rather not, but I may very well do so as a stop gap. However in all honesty basic med would be exactly what I’d need. You no idea how tempted I am at times to omit my history and never get a medical again after it expires. The standards are so screwed up ):

    Going to HIMS Neuropsychologist?

To be fair… given my history and talking about pipe bombs, I could understand their concerns lol. But to clarify, it was NOT a swat raid, it was just one senior agent, who wanted to talk. Nice guy, hell I still have his cell number, he offered to get lunch sometime if I wanted. For the last 3...

Rule proposing requiring a Class 2 medical for commercial balloon pilots is live & open for comments

Perhaps I should clarify, my issue isn’t with the idea of having a medical in it if itself, but rather the knee jerk response to it. I know of two medical related ballon accidents in the last 7 years, beyond that I’m uninformed on the frequency of balloon accidents attributed to medical...

Rule proposing requiring a Class 2 medical for commercial balloon pilots is live & open for comments

I dream of a world where the FAA medical policies aren’t half a century out of date (looking at all the people who get screwed for admitting mental health struggles). And I think we get a bit closer to that goal of either heavily reforming or potentially doing away with a class 3 medical by...

14-year old daughter - Psychiatrist wants to prescribe Lamictal

If he hasn’t prescribed anything yet you could take her to get a medical now, then she’d be eligible for basic med even if it’s 20 years down the road.

    Going to HIMS Neuropsychologist?

I just had someone ask me this in a PM, but it doesn’t bother me so I’ll post it here as well. “It is a long story. But it wasn’t the FAA, it was the FBI, and I don’t know if they got a subpoena, or a admin on here voluntarily gave it, or if they found me another way. Regardless it was this...

    Going to HIMS Neuropsychologist?

Wtf, Since when does the FAA do random prescription databases checks? Were you flying under basic med at the time/was your most recent medical expired? I’m curious if the privacy authorization we give them is indefinite, or if it’s only valid during the duration of a valid medical. If said...

    Going to HIMS Neuropsychologist?

Valid point, some form of this happened to me 3 years ago on here.
