    Alternate advantages with a BGI

So I got my BGI (and FOI) last year in order to teach ground school at the same flight school I got my license at right before I left for college; I got it because it gave me a reason to increase my knowledge in aviation and give back to my school. My friend asked my about it and how the...

The step from college to first regional job.

My bad I meant to mention that after I ‘graduate’ I will be staying for a year or so to get the 950 hours (instructing) and then moving on.

They do offer that, and I will make an appointment. I just wanted neutral/external opinions.

The step from college to first regional job.

Hello forum! I am currently a freshman at the University of North Dakota, I’m studying commercial aviation and aviation studies, and I will be obtaining all certificates up to an R-ATP before I hopefully get my first position on the line at a regional operation. For those who have been to a...

    Emergency 180 in the Smoke

Thanks for the feedback. I was VFR with flight following, but I was also right under and right next to the cluster of airspace that is NorCal/SFO, so I’m sure the turn didn’t help him out separation-wise and I recognize that. The controller did beat me to the radio for when I was rolling out...

    Emergency 180 in the Smoke

Possible, I was crusing more at 3,700ft, the previous controller made the exception for me since he knew I was a student pilot. But possibly?

    Emergency 180 in the Smoke

First off, I was a student pilot. I was finishing up my flight training in summer of 2016 out of Concord Buchanan Airfield (KCCR). I needed 0.7 more hours of solo cross country to meet all hourly Minimums for the private pilot certificate. My route of flight was to depart out of CCR and head...

    Advice on VFR ontop.

Palm Pilot how was ur time through the pass? I'm not a big fan of large terrain and a small sport plane is the closest to my small 150 hp piper.

    Advice on VFR ontop.

Yeah seeing that I got VFR ontop wrong probably means I should go Inland. I had a feeling. Thanks Harold and kgruber.

    Advice on VFR ontop.

Edit: I would need to stop in Eureka for fuel. So such conditions would automatically void the route. Also if anyone is used to the area, do more systems of fog come inland after he morning marine layer, or does it only clear up more as the day goes.

    Advice on VFR ontop.

Hello everyone! This Thursday Ill be taking a Piper PA 28-140 from KCCR to KSLE to visit a friend. I have 2 routes planned out, one that goes over Redding and past Mt. Shasta. And one that goes west over Eureka and Coos Bay. I really want to take the Eureka and Coos Bay route because terrain...

A hypothetical for ATC (or anyone knowledgeable)

Controllers are superhuman, agreed. And I guess my example was acceptable. I know if I were a controller and someone came out of no where and asked for flight following off the bat along with other things I'd have to take a step back.

A hypothetical for ATC (or anyone knowledgeable)

Hello, This is a thing I have been curious about since I started flight training- Let's say a student pilot (or someone who needs work on the radios) calls a ground controller and says "ground, N1234A with J (the weather) looking to taxi to runway 12, we are in front of the hangars". Obviously...

Best way to prep for the oral exam

Hello, I'm in the last weeks of my flight training, so it's time I start prepping for the check ride. I've been told I got the aero maneuvers down, I just need to brush up on my book knowledge some more. What's a good program/ way to study for the oral exam? Also, the FAA switched from the...

My final 2 solo hours as a student pilot. Where should I go.

The 172 I train in has tundra tires so I guess I can land on the bank.

My final 2 solo hours as a student pilot. Where should I go.

Lol. I'm not that gloomy. I was curious of places to go since I've already been to everywhere I wanted to go (within the limits)

My final 2 solo hours as a student pilot. Where should I go.

I have another 2 hours of XC solo time I need to complete. I'm out of Concord KCCR, and I need one or two last memorable flights. Somewhere north or east preferred, I still need to fly into SFO's Class B with an instructor. I was thinking KCCR-C83-Crows Landing- to Holllister airport (since...

    Isogonic confusion

But I have the most recent sectional, are those lines not reliable?

    Isogonic confusion

I've flown into/over/around C83 many times, never encountered the jumpers (we check to see if a load is up before flight of course). I was looking for something on my keyboard that looked closest to a degrees mark, I totally forgot about the *.

    Advice for first solo?

Focus on V-Speeds, holding attitude, and communication. Tips for the actual event, enjoy it. Tell the ground/tower you're a student pilot on your initial solo and they will make your life way easier. But you'll never want to forget this flight, don't make it a stressful memory.
