    PA-32 down Brentwood, TN

No, there isn't. We know an A/P IA who couldn't properly document a rebuild he did in the field on an engine that came apart in flight. They pulled his IA. That's all.

    Redundant Vacuum System Upgrade

    Dangerous guy

You might consider sending an anonymous text to the trust fund kid stating his medical is in question and the penalties include a $250K fine and a year in prison (or whatever the stated penalties are now) for lying on the application. Give him a chance to do the right thing. Who knows he may not...

Black max Engine dehydrator - beware

We considered options for both preheating our IO540 and for managing humidity a couple years ago. After looking at reef and Tanis-style and sump-heat systems we elected to go with the "Twin Hornet Engine Heater" we found at Sportys. (We have no relationship with the manufacturer or resellers)...

Stolen King Air still flying as of 8:38am on Sat (9-3-22)

How do you receive a report when a plane goes supersonic other than when someone on the ground is witnessing ?

    Tipping FBO Staff

That's pretty much what we surmised. On arrival the FBO was great with accommodations as above. We asked that the tanks be topped, but discovered at preflight they had completely missed the right tank, but fueled the left tank to the tab as requested. It was obvious something was amiss because...

    Tipping FBO Staff

They were very professional. Rolled a golf car to the plane, picked up luggage and took us to the gate. They also put a carpet at the plane itself which was a first time for us.

    Tipping FBO Staff

$75 per night for a heated hangar, so $225 hangar and $275 fuel.

    Tipping FBO Staff

The question of how much to tip FBO staff came up recently and we decided to come here for the consensus. At a recent holiday stay we spent 3 nights in the (heated) hangar of the FBO and had the tanks filled. The FBO presented a bill of about $500.00 at departure. Not sure I'd tip 20% of that...

172 Crash near KFWN (Sussex County)

Look, whatever went to hell in a handbag, no experienced pilot is going to be sitting on the mike calling 'mayday' instead of trying every trick in to the book to recover the plane. I would wager these gentleman were kicking the rudder in every direction trying to stop the spin and pushing the...

172 Crash near KFWN (Sussex County)

Exactly. When I still flew commercial was on a 737 out of BNA that was turned back for precautionary landing after birds hit the turbine (literal smell of KFC in the cabin), and then witnessed at my home airport a Walmart twin jet pull power beyond the half way point due to avian ingestion (my...

172 Crash near KFWN (Sussex County)

I haven't either but this accident http://www.kathrynsreport.com/search?q=rock+pigeon came to mind wherein an ATP and pilot passenger were taken out at 7600 msl by a rock pigeon.

172 Crash near KFWN (Sussex County)

Wouldn't a bird strike have to be considered as a possibility with such a sudden and precipitous outcome ?

    206 Operation Times

Yes, thanks for responding, my A&P confirmed that engine time displayed on the G1000 engine page is used tach time and maintenance scheduling.

    206 Operation Times

Our 2006 T206H has a hobbs meter in the upper right of the panel on the passenger's side. When energized one can also display an 'engine time' which appears in MFD on the engine page. Does this suffice for Tach time or is there some other time reference on the plane we don't know about. Thanks...

    2006 Cessna T206H Stationair

I like the car and the plane :). Simpler times for certain.

    2006 Cessna T206H Stationair

Yes it is. There are several smaller airports in the area where we practice approaches that are RNAV only at this time, with plans to decommission ILS's at other locations.

That would be great: flying at g mail.com. Thank You !

    2006 Cessna T206H Stationair

Great information thanks for forwarding. We will plan to get through all ADs at the coming annual. Standby battery switch operation noted. I need to get a copy of the POH. Over on the ABS forum it was suggested that Textron/Garmin may have an upgrade path now but we haven't found it yet (other...

    2006 Cessna T206H Stationair

Will include TKS in the pre-buy/annual. O2 tanked is to be tested / recertified so we can check TKS simultaneously. Did any TKS fluid leak into your plane or otherwise cause any damage ? Estimates on the WAAS upgrade are ~ 32K. We flew the RNAV in and there is no vertical guidance without WAAS...
