Gorgeous day but still grounded :(

Because it was almost a direct crosswind for 17/35. 280 at 28 G 40 all day on Sunday. Was too scared to even ride my motorcycle to church. Rode about 2 miles south on I35 and then turned around.

    Flying under the influence

You don't need the key to open the door on a Cessna. You don't need the key to start the engine either.

    Abandoned airplanes

Where do you live? Hangars here are impossible to get: wait lists of 6+ years. Some have even stopped taking names for the wait list. And rents keep going up.

Question about the localizer for the ILS system

I think Larry already explained it above. The instrument is the CDI. You fly the needle on the CDI. You keep saying VOR and that is what is throwing everyone off. So to answer your question, no. Being pedantic, you don't shoot a LOC approach using a VOR receiver. They are two different...

Question about the localizer for the ILS system

Question about the localizer for the ILS system

Well. They're both right. Harold is telling you what's its like flying most aircraft. Flyingiron is just being pedantic. And now someone will come along and correct me soon.

    Will General Aviation Survive

The cost argument doesn't work for me either. With the frequency I fly and amount of money I've put into this, I could book first class tickets with limo service and save money over flying myself. However, I don't. I'm not sure why. I consider myself a very rational person until it comes to...

Concierge medicine or can't find a doctor

I was told by two people I trust to make sure your AME and your primary physician are two distinct individuals. And to never intersect the two.
