I think I did the allowed thing....

I'm trying hard to figure this out, but it doesn't make sense. Why/how would the Citation be on a straight in for 5, but then call right traffic for 5? And then of course the issue that was already brought up, which is that there is noway a Skycatcher can taxi 1 mile in the same time that a...

How long did it take before you landed landing

Here's the trick to flaring: Cover the end of the runway with the tip of the nose. Keep it covered. As you slow down, you'll have to pull more and more to keep it covered. And of course when I say "end of the runway", I'm referring to the end that you are NOT trying to land on.

    Insurance and the independent CFI

We have our independent CFI insured under our policy. The cost difference with or without him is minimal. Also, am I the only person that doesn’t get sticker shock for airplane insurance? Yearly premiums for a 200hr pilot in a $150k Bonanza are less than yearly premiums for a Honda Civic in...

Question on if the C-177 is a good plane?

We've had a 1967 C177 for going on 3 years, it averages about 150hrs per year. We've thoroughly enjoyed it. It is economical at 8-9gals/hr at 110knots. Super roomy cockpit with front seat upper visibility rivaling most low wings. The panel is a full scale on the pilots side making it great...

GA Landing At Bravo Airport (TG vs. FS vs. FBO)

Me and a buddy flew into ATL in a Cherokee to see the Delta museum. I believe we paid around $50 in fees. Honestly we were off the ground in less time than you normally spend at PDK. Sure it's the busiest airport in the world, but it's a top-notch operation.

When did you last practice a simulated engine failure?

 So you're a VFR pilot at a small airport, got it.

Cleared to takeoff, Proceed on course.

This thread is entirely too long for such a simple ATC instruction.

    Short tempered pilots

A CFI shouldn't be using the term "active runway" to begin with. Yesterday I landed behind a guy doing TnG's in some tail-drag thing. While taxing to the ramp, I hear: Student "I understand 5 is the active". TnG guy "WE'RE using 5, but you're free to use whatever you want." Student "Okay...

    Tail Strike on Landing

A 177 certainly has the elevator authority to give the tail a good smack on landing, with plenty of yoke travel left.

ADSB out creating more risk until 2020

The only "human nature" I need to know is that no one can scan the entire sky for traffic -twice- per second. That's up to 24 times the refresh rate of radar, and that doesn't include the 3-4 second radio call required to relay that 12 second old information provided by FF. No one is calling...
