    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Are you sure they were wearing them to prevent hypothermia? They might have other reasons. Maybe they were wearing coats because they were making a fashion statement, or maybe because they thought they could work up a sweat easier. Or maybe it is just the "Woke" thing to do. You just don't' know...

    Stranded - need alternator help

I wonder what he would have said if you would have replied that if you leave the master switch on, after awhile, the battery will not have enough charge to start the engine. Not that I would ever recommend telling a lie since the man from the FAA was only there to help you.....

Can I log PIC - fantasy edition

Absolutely you can log all of this as PIC, log the approach, and count as cross country. Of course your logbook that you log this in will disappear as soon as you awaken from the dream that you are having....

    Clock for IFR

If you swapped the 530 for an Avidyne IFD 540 you would be set. There is a programable datablock function that allows you to put a clock with either local or utc time in one of the datablock's so it is always visible. I do realize that might cost more than cutting a new hole for a clock and...

Great discount for nav data from Jeppesen

Sorry I stepped away for a bit. Yes the Jepp site is annoying to navigate. I just signed in and went to my configuration, so I don't know how much this link will help you, but here it is. https://shop.jeppesen.com/databaseproductsearch I have it bookmarked and it makes you log in. If you don't...

Great discount for nav data from Jeppesen

Boeing2021 for AOPA code. THANKS2021 was Jepp's 50 dollar discount but I don't think that is good for renewals.

Great discount for nav data from Jeppesen

I just bought a new 1 year subscription for my IFD 440 for $220.00 using two discount codes. AOPA 10 percent discount and another Jeppesen 50 dollar discount. The regular price is 299 for nav data. I had let my subscription lapse a couple of months while I was busy with fall harvest. Kind of...

$100 burger run destinations relatively close to Wichita?

K-18 Diner in Lucas Kansas, K34. It is about a 50 yard walk from the tiedowns. It is an old fashioned diner. We have only flown for breakfast, but really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Kind of like stepping back in time just a little bit.

    Avidyne IFD gap in route

I actually had never used any IFR GPS before settling on the IFD. I chose Avidyne because I like the concept of competition, and also the Avidyne folks bent over backwards to offer assistance and provide any information I might possibly want. Their customer service after the sale has really been...

    Avidyne IFD gap in route

When I first installed my Avidyne, flight plans that had a gap because of an approach bothered me. The more I flew it, the more I realized how unnecessary my concerns were. If your plan was to fly direct to the airport and then shoot the approach, you would know that you will most likely...

    Cruelty to Senior Citizens

Many years ago, I used to occasionally chew tobacco. Once, I stopped to visit my dad, and Monday night football was on. I was chewing that evening and spitting in a pop bottle. My dad just happened to fall asleep during the game, and when he woke up, he was thirsty, (and probably a little...

Leaded gas and the EPA...here it comes

Wind turbines are very expensive for the energy they deliver over their lifespan, yet they have been erected all over the country, (making it harder to scud run at times! lol) yet somehow private business can't put them up fast enough. How does that work? Those are heavily subsidized, because it...

Leaded gas and the EPA...here it comes

If you want to create a mass exodus from 100ll, make 100ul cheaper by a few cents. As long as it is a safe and comparable alternative, most people will probably switch.

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Those could be sausage casings. Inverted means the have been turned inside out and have probably been scraped and cleaned. Sheep intestines are also used for sausage casings. Sometimes it is better to just not know where the stuff we eat comes from. :(
