    Suface aluminum corrosion on firewall

Whatever it is, it had some minor corrosion on either side, most so around the electric fuel pump box. Looks like the previous owner got soap on it because there is an oily grime type coating on the upper parts of the firewall where there is none of the corrosion. I shot some corrosion-X right...

    Suface aluminum corrosion on firewall

I see now that it is steel - I had assumed it was aluminum. I'll get some photos asap.

    Suface aluminum corrosion on firewall

I just re-bought my old Cherokee 140 - since I had it last it appears to have developed some "dusty" white surface corrosion on the firewall inside the engine bay. It's weird because there a very defined line between the clean metal and the corrosion area, which is at the bottom and towards the...

Would like a pirep from Pilots in Colombia Sc..

Where to live depends on where you are working and the school district you want to be in. Most areas in Lexington and Irmo are good for families but the commute is bad if you work in Columbia. Pelion is good, KCUB has a great flying community especially if you join the local EAA chapter which...

178 Seconds to live VFR into IFR

I came close to doing that recently. I was able to land but if it got any lower I would have had to punch up through a small layer. It occurred to me that being too afraid to do that could limit your safety ADM depending on the situation.

How long did it take before you landed landing

Once you learn the airplane it gets a lot easier. You’ll know exactly where to trim it for the desired speed, and once you can feel where the wheels are, flaring gets a lot easier. Sometimes it feels like I’m hanging my feet down under the plane and reaching for the pavement.

For Sale Cherokee 140 - Great Trainer Airplane - $28,500

I am planning to list this plane for sale on Controller and Barnstormers in January, but I wanted to give my forum friends a chance to be aware that it is coming onto the market soon. Also I'd rather sell it to a pilot or student than a broker. I am selling it to get a bigger and faster plane...

    Where would you land?

Pine trees might be more bendy but they can get pretty tall. Whichever trees look softest and shortest at the time I suppose.
