    Mixture Control

Do Jet Engines have a mixture control, the red knob, or is that only found on piston engines?

    Skydiving Airport

Flying to an airport that has skydiving activity. I'm wondering if the pilots of skydiving aircraft give out any radio calls on CTAF that jumpers are away or something of that sort.

    Gender Reveal Party

Doing a gender reveal flyby with a pink or blue powder. I'll maintain at least 600 feet above ground, so I don't violate any rules. The house with the party sits on a 20 acre lot, but I doubt the powder will even make it to the ground. I'm debating on which method to use. Idea from 1. Put...

    Mixture Control

We'll assume carburetor. I'm just confused as to what's the difference between a slightly closed throttle or flying at a higher altitude. Both would cause less air to go into the cylinder. So why a mixture control for altitude only. We drive regular cars to Denver, yet no mixture control in...

    Mixture Control

I learned that a venturi is used that determines the pressure difference in the incoming air to calculate how much air is going into the cylinder and that calculates how much fuel needs to go in. So if closing the throttle reduces air into the cylinder, which also reduces fuel into the...

Commercial CFR 61.129 (a) (3) (iii) and (iv)

FAA CFR 61.129 (a) (3) (iii) requires a 2 hour day flight to an airport 100nm away and (iv) requires a 2 hour night flight to an airport 100nm away. Do these have to be separate flights? or you can combine them? Fly during day to an airport 100nm away with your instructor and then fly back at...

IFR Filed - But Depart VFR

My plan is to file IFR from Chicago Midway to Indianapolis at night. But I'd like to see the Chicago Skyline at night over lake Michigan before heading south and joining the IFR Route. Perhaps I can file from KMDW to Indy, but request Midway Clearance that I'd like to fly north to see the city...

IFR Filed - But Depart VFR

If I've flied an IFR plan, but I'd like to depart VFR, do a little local sightseeing around the airport and then get on with the IFR route. What would be the proper procedure? File IFR from a fix other than the departing airport and pick it up when in the air? or let Clearance know of what...

    VFR Flight into Chicago Midway

I didn't mean west of the Bravo, I meant west of the buildings in Chicago, so just staying to the right of Bravo, but overland, just west of the high rise buildings.

    VFR Flight into Chicago Midway

Hi Everyone, I wanted to talk a little about flying into Chicago Midway from Indianapolis, Indiana. 1. I'd like to fly VFR around the skyline first before landing at Midway. Every video I see on youtube, everyone is generally flying northbound or southbound over Lake Michigan. Based on the TAC...

    Cessna 2 Place Intercom

There is a Cessna C172M where I rent aircraft. It only has a 2 place intercom, which sucks when I take up more than 1 passenger as there are no headset plugs in the back. I'm looking for some suggestions on how I can communicate with them or at least they can listen to what the pilot and copilot...

    Cross Country for Instrument Rating

I had a question regarding building cross country hours. I know I must do a landing 50nm away. But can anyone tell me if the following scenario will count as a cross country towards the instrument rating. The destination airport is 55nm away. Due to class bravo restrictions, one possible route...

30 vs 60 Frames per Second

Awesome explanation. So basically, I should be able to use 1080p @ 60 fps with a ND filter, and it should still fix the prop distortion. The reason for the 60p is that the I've read higher fps can be used to stabilize the video with the editing softwares.

30 vs 60 Frames per Second

Flying Ron: here's another article http://www.thevideomode.com/tuition/how-shutter-speeds-work-when-shooting-video-263/ I can't find any other source that says shutter speed is not linked to the frame rate. Again my apologies, just trying to figure something out here.
