    Grumman CHTs?

What does this mod look like? Does anyone have a description or photo of it?

    Idaho Falls

I'm going to be in Idaho Falls for a few days in September. Is there a school nearby that does any tailwheel, glider, or seaplane training? I'd be interested in taking some dual in the area but doing it in something different.

    ATP single-engine written test

How much difference is there between the ATP Multi written (ATM) and the ATP single written (ATS)? If you study for ATM would that be sufficient for ATS? (Yes, I'm aware that an ATP single is not super useful)

Sectional chart seen in TV show “The Middle”

The show is in syndication but happened to watch a rerun. One of the characters is a supervisor in a quarry and on the wall in his office there is a framed Salt Lake sectional chart. There are no other aviation references in the show, and it’s set in Indiana. I wonder if one of the producers...

xplane vs MSFS for IFR procedures

I'm looking for something to support chair flying at home for prep and general familiarity with specific approaches. I'm not concerned about simulation of specific planes or scenery, rather just want something that will help me get a mental picture of a procedure and then walk through it...

    Practice approach at KPIT

Thanks for the replies. PIT was easy to work with, they granted my approach requests and allowed me to land and taxi back. It was definitely quiet there.

    Practice approach at KPIT

Would they grant a request for a piston to do a practice approach midday on a weekday? What about a landing/taxi back and depart? If you’ve done this recently, did you encounter any issues with the request?

    Guide me through the CFI

I could not agree with this more!!!

    Guide me through the CFI

I had similar questions and found the same issue, there isn’t a “path” to this cert. It’s much less about the flying, and mostly about the teaching and delivery. Yes, you have to fly the maneuvers from the right seat to commercial standards, but the real thing you are tested on is how you teach...

Can 10 hours of complex/TAA requirement for CSEL be met in a multi?

The FAA clarified this a few years ago, confirming that this is allowed. I was in a similar situation and I obtained my 10 hours of complex for the CP-ASEL in a twin. Additionally note that per 61.129 5 of the 10 hours of instrument dual for the CP-ASEL can also be obtained in a multi...

King Schools Multi Engine - Worth It?

I would agree that the King course is not worth it. However the books that are recommended above are excellent, IMO. Martin Pauly posted videos covering the engine loss "drill" and Vmc, and I found those to be incredibly helpful as well...

    Written test - no pencils

In the last month I have taken the Commercial Airplane, AGI, and FIA and for all three I was given two pencils.

    Flight instructor written exams

As a followup to my original post, since I was searching for this advice and have now completed the CAX, AGI, and FIA written exams, my recommendation is to take them in that order if you are planning to take all of them. AGI and FIA overlapped significantly, but there were a number of...

    Flight instructor written exams

How similar are the written exams for flight instructor airplane vs advanced ground instructor? Note I’m not referring to FOI, rather the “aviation” set of exams fo these.

    Sheppard written test prep SW

I ended up getting it on the ipad and was very happy with it. Helped me get a 98 on the CPL written :)

    Sheppard written test prep SW

Is there are difference between the mobile and desktop versions? I know you have to choose one and can't install on both, but wondering if one is better than the other.

    Best Aircraft for Commercial SEL

The debate stems from the memo I linked: https://www.faa.gov/about/office_or...8/Oord-AOPA - (2018) Legal Interpretation.pdf

    10 Day Instrument

I went this route for my instrument and it worked well for me. I recommend that you know the airplane in which you will be training cold before starting. Know the power settings and configuration for approach speeds without looking them up. You don't want to be spending time learning this...

    Best Aircraft for Commercial SEL

I'm looking at the Comm SEL as well. There is a debate at the school I'm training at regarding whether dual time logged during the instrument training counts for the 10 hours needed for the commercial (this seems to cover it but that's not the point of my post...

    Tail number appearing elsewhere

I noticed via Flightaware that a plane reporting my tail number via ADS-B was "seen" at an airport hundreds of miles from my home base. I know my plane was tucked in the hangar at the time. Is there something I should do? Should I contact the FAA about this?
