How Many Planes Do You Have

I'll take that Comanche 260 off your hands!

    Whisper X350 aircraft

I sat in one years ago at Oshkosh. The cabin was massive, something like 48-50” wide. Performance was great and price wasn’t bad. I couldn’t understand why there weren’t people drooling all over this plane. It was parked over by main entrance of OSH, where Pipestrel and Bristell normally are. So...

    How is the Piper Comanche?

True! Long range fuel is the best speed mod!

    How is the Piper Comanche?

Better than the Mooney m20e. Both values set at $75k (way under valued but I was ok with it). 1300hr pilot, nearly all complex high performance time, IFR and the Comanche was $1400yr, Mooney M20E $1800yr. When I bought my current plane a year ago, i already had 125hrs in the type, including...

    How is the Piper Comanche?

They say you don't know what you have till it's gone. This is true. I had a Comanche 250 and did not realize the true versatility of the "Beast". I sold it to move up to a 310, which fell through. Now I have a Mooney. I like the Mooney but loved the Comanche. I could squeeze 161kts out of it...

Six Seats, Two Engines, Under 20 GPH

The Twin Comanche is definitely in this range. If you’re looking for all twin options, the Beech Duchess has four seats, three doors with the huge baggage area for dogs. That’s a good alternative but the the PA30 will be faster.

Most Expensive 100LL (Uncontrolled USA 48)

It's not $4.15 north of Memphis. They've been out of fuel for a while now. They should take down their price of fuel is not available. As a controller I ask all the time "is this a fuel stop?". They see cheap gas on ForeFlight and decide to stop. Happens all the time! Almost happened to me on...

    Comanche parts availability

Never had issues with Comanche parts. Surprisingly easy to find stuff for them.

    Plane Prices

Congratulations! I still have 10yrs. The atc career is great, but the bureaucracy is what drives people mad!

    Plane Prices

Hmmm, I’ve worked for the government for quite a long time… never been on the GS scale. So I guess I’m not an idiot then?

    Plane Prices

Traveler being a nicer plane than the Comanche? I don’t think that has ever been said before. A Traveler can’t beat the pa24 in any category of performance or physical spec.

    Plane Prices

My raise was a total of 2.7% and the rise in Social Security went up 2.9%. How much was inflation? I don’t think government employees are even close to neutral like you may think.

    Life limits on aircraft

Thanks, I guess I should’ve dug deeper! I didn’t realise the wing life of a 114 was double what the 112 is. Yeah, certainly not an issue.

    Life limits on aircraft

I am curiously shopping for a possible upgrade to the Comanche, not in speed but in comfort. I have always loved the Commander 114-115 and was curious about the wing life. I understand that the life limit was basically made up for certification under the new Part 23. Can one simply find a...

    alrighty then, who's buying it??

Man, sounds like you guys are hurting up there in Chicago. Down here at ZKC there are only a few areas that are still on 6day work weeks. I feel like I still don’t get the plane out enough, even with a two day weekend! 10yrs till retirement but it’s gonna get worse soon. Not many controllers...

    Paint my plane

Was thinking that with vinyl stripes. That way you could change colors every few years!

    Paint my plane

That’s about what I’d expect. I was thinking (hoping) $12k-$15k for a strip and paint. My paint isn’t bad but I need to get the cowl done due to IFR flights and rain hitting it at 190mph!

    Paint my plane

Approx costs for that strip and paint? Looks like they do a great job!

    What are you flying?
