FAA launches investigation after two planes nearly collide at JFK airport

That's what I heard in the audio as well. I didn't find the controller that hard to understand, but the read back from the pilot was. The controller maybe should have had her read back the taxi clearance again, but in the end I think it's pilot error.

FAA launches investigation after two planes nearly collide at JFK airport

I watched a youtube that had the tower call. AA106 was cleared to cross 31L at kilo, they crossed 4L at Juliet. The female voice from AA106 did read back the crossing clearance, but it was kind of hard to understand her. Looks ike crew error to me. Ground could have maybe stopped AA106 earlier...

    Where is everyone?

So will avgas prices have an affect on Oshkosh attendence? We're still planning on going, I purchased my tickets online a couple days ago. For us it's only about a 2 hr flight, so avgas price isn't a big deal, but for others that are coming in from a long distance it's going to be an expensive trip!

First ever Airventure. What's better, first two days or last two days.

We've only been to Air Venture twice, but have hit both options. First time we flew in Thursday morning and stayed til Sunday afternoon, last year we flew in Sunday morning and stayed til Wednesday. This year we'll be back to going the second half of the week. We saw more military jets the first...

Comanche Needs a New Paint Job

I shopped around for quotes on painting my plane while at Osh last year. I only got one quote back, and while the price wasn't bad, after doing some quick google searches the paint shop didn't have the best reviews. Now, I get it, could be just a few out of many that will never be satisfied, but...

AirVenture summary & observations about the aviation community

IMO the ratio of m to f in the show area is about 60-40. In GAC it's more like 80-20. My wife and I camped in the N 40 from Sunday-Wednesday, not many woman camping, some, but not many. In the show area you have a lot of VERY attractive young woman working for the vendors! Plus, you see a...

    OSH 2021

I checked the local weather stations in the area, looks like the highest wind gusts were in the mid 20 mph range, not bad, rain totals a little over an inch. Storms can vary a lot in intensity but looks like Osh was spared. Hopefully the rest of the week is good weather. Have a great time to...

    OSH 2021

We bailed out this morning, I was planning on staying until tomorrow mainly because of the night airshow. Now that it got moved to tomorrow night I guess I didn't miss anything. Praying for the storms to miss Oshkosh! It was a zoo getting out, at least 45 min wait but we got out about 11:30. It...

    Best day/time to arrive

Is there such a thing? I've only been to Osh once, 2019, we flew in early Thursday morning the week of, not the week before. We landed at about 7:10 am and the traffic was actually pretty light. This year I'm planning on going earlier, like Sunday, just wondering what to expect for traffic...

    The 300 hour blahs

I got into flying mainly because we owned a lake home that was a 6 hr drive away. It was great,1.5 hr flight vs a 6 hr drive. We have sold our lake house so now we try to take 1 weekend a month and travel to a new destination, we went to Memphis last weekend. I love to fly, but I need a mission...

    Air Wagner..... He’s baaaaackk.

Well that clears that up! Thanks. The couple of times I've done circle to land approaches I've requested it.

    Air Wagner..... He’s baaaaackk.

I have never taken part in the Jerry bashing, God knows I've made plenty of mistakes, thankfully they aren't all available on youtube! Spoiler alert.....close your eyes if you'd rather see it in the video. His secondary minimums are the straight in RNAV 7 minimums. But, when cleared for an...

    Show off your Plane!

My Trinidad. Love it, she's taken us from MN to the Bahamas twice and Key West once, as well as countless other destinations. May not be the fasted HP single but that 50" wide cabin sure is comfortable for this old fat man! We just got home from a weekend trip to Memphis.

First ever Cell phone plan for flying purposes

A couple of things I really like about Google Fi... 1. No extra charge for data plan for your iPad. Just request a sim card(no charge) and it just uses data from your plan. If, like me, you have the unlimited plan, you have no charge to add iPads. I have 3 iPads with data service, iPads &...

    Avidyne 440 vs GN355/175/375

I swapped out my 430W for an IFD440 about a year after buying my plane, huge upgrade IMO. I always had trouble remembering where to find things in all the nested menus in the 430. I actually didn't even consider a GTN 650 because of install costs. Saying the IFD440 is a 5 min swap from a GNS...

    Our winter/anniversary get away

This is our flight out of Key West. More open water on this one. This was an IFR flight, I filed for 6000, they cleared me for 7000 initially, then dropped me to 6000. I picked a recently approved route and got cleared as filed.
