    Converging from opposite sides

That's a fair point. After we landed and were walking around, there was a good 10 minute stretch with no take offs or landings at all. I'll add that to my list of options to consider in the future.

    Converging from opposite sides

This is a great post. I think this is what I really needed to hear. And yes, I was just out there having fun. Landing 22 was perfectly safe for me. It just added another few minutes to my flight, which isn't a big deal at all. I'm at about 300 hours now, it's just that most of my...

    Converging from opposite sides

The airport is A39. There is a 0.7% gradient uphill going to the NE per the chart supplement. If I did the math right that means the elevation changes less than 1 foot over the course of the entire runway.

    Converging from opposite sides

Ya, runway was 4500'+ long. The tail wind wasn't that much of a concern.

    That is entirely possible.

    Converging from opposite sides

Hello fellow pilots. I had a situation yesterday, and I'm looking for feedback on how I could learn. Here is the situation. The airport I was approaching has a single runway 04/22. I am approaching basically from the North. There is no tower. I make a call at 10 miles out that I'll be full...

Chinese Spy Balloon Flying Over the U.S.

-- Incoming random unverifiable information -- You're not shooting this balloon down with bullets. I did some quick "back of the envelope" calcs Service ceiling on an A-10 warthog is 50,000 feet. If you could somehow magically get the warthog perfectly vertical firing a round from the...

    Passed my Checkride!!

Have you read through the ACS? There are NO surprises on a checkride. Everything that you will be evaluated on is in the ACS. I just passed my instrument ride and was super nervous. It had been 7 years between my private and instrument. The whole thing went exactly according to the ACS. No...

    Passed Instrument Checkride

Ah, wow. That sounds like a recipe for disaster. I can see why you feel that way. There is a published non-binding procedure (link below) on how things are "supposed" to operate there. It's actually available on the FAAsafety.gov website. The one on the FAA website is old (which is another...

    Passed Instrument Checkride

Great point. The challenge out here in the desert SouthWest is getting actual IMC... It just doesn't happen all that often. But I'll certainly be looking for opportunities.

    Passed Instrument Checkride

When the examiner first requested top of stack, we were told 5,500 was open. (I tracked the whole flight with breadcrumbs on the iPad) That was ~10 miles (5 minutes) out. We climbed up to 5,500. But before we even got there, 5k opened up. I crossed TFD for a teardrop entry at 5k. I have...

No, we were not able to do that approach. We did approaches at KCGZ and P08. He didn't even ask about it during the oral. But if he did??? I knew it inside and out. :)

    Passed Instrument Checkride

I passed my instrument checkride last night and am the proud new owner of a new temporary airmen certificate with a new rating. This message board, has been a great resource for discussion and splitting regs and hairs down to the smallest details. After discussing all of these things with all...
