    PP-ASEL New Type No Checkout

If you're somewhat proficient in the type I'd say no problem. I learned in a Warrior, then rented 172's. While building my airplane I rented the least expensive airplanes I could find and those were 152's. Probably have a hundred or more hours in them. Fast forward, RV-7A is done and flying...

    ADS-B in saved my bacon

This is from the AIM. No avoidance maneuvers without visual contact. e. ADS−B Limitations 1. The ADS−B cockpit display of traffic is NOT intended to be used as a collision avoidance system and does not relieve the pilot’s responsibility to “see and avoid” other aircraft. (See paragraph...

I sat through a IMC Club seminar at Oshkosh this year. It appeared they were still doing good.

NRC rips FAA over Nextgen - proposes sulf-supporting government corporation

I don't follow this stuff too closely but it seems like the last progress report from the FAA said they were on schedule and the 2020 mandate was a definite reality. I'm sure there's a lot to it though, not just the mandate part.

2 Airplanes Same IFR Flight Plan

Ya I sure enjoyed it and still practice on occasion. Probably the highlight of it all was being able to participate in a couple of missing man formations for veterans. Unfortunately one of the veterans was our formation lead who succumbed to brain cancer. Funny I've started using...

    Pacific Northwest to Oshkosh

I've only been twice in my life but in 2012 and 2014 I thought the fuel prices were pretty fair. (Well maybe not fair, seems like if thousands of planes were fueling up it'd be a lot cheaper.) In 2012 I paid slightly more per gallon than OSH twice while enroute. In 2014 OSH was the most...

2 Airplanes Same IFR Flight Plan

I've heard of this and although it's intriguing I don't think it's something I'd take part in. I've had probably had 8 or 10 hours of FFI training but haven't went for a card. So I guess 2 or more airplanes filed as one IFR "flight"? (Remarks section?) All airplanes and Pilots IFR rated. One...

    Pacific Northwest to Oshkosh

Awesome you're going to have a great trip! I've done it twice in my RV-7A. My speed and range are a little different but here's what I did. Leg 1 KPLU to S83 to 8U8. Townsend has cheap fuel, a place to camp, and a loaner van. Pretty much follow I-90. Leg 2 8U8 to KMBG. You can camp...

2 Airplanes Same IFR Flight Plan

Suppose you and a friend wanted to both fly IFR to the same airport for breakfast. If you both filed to depart at the same time from the same airport, same route, same altitude, same TAS, etc, how long would ATC hold you for release after they clear your friend for departure. To take it a...
