    An Airworthiness Nightmare

Fair enough - I am sure we could enjoy a few beers. Beer...good.... Tom - I like the idea of the periodic re-registration. They did that years ago. People that migrated completely away from aviation never knew they had to re-register and their tickets were lost. I think that periodically...

    Low Wing Reputation

I don't know what all the high wing/low wing stuff is about. All airplanes are great as long as the main wing is in the back where it's supposed to be;)

    Low time on plane

Every airplane is different. When you are talking the majoriy of the GA fleet which is greater than 25 years old there is no way to make a blanket statement about a particular year model or fleet in terms of condition. Face it - for the average GA pilot we are restorers and owners of classic...

    An Airworthiness Nightmare

Stache - I have a question. I have read a lot of your posts and you often state things like, "As an FAA inspector..." and "I can't speak for other FAA inspectors but my judgement..." So when you post here are you posting as an individual or as the FAA? This board is anonymous so the I take...

    An Airworthiness Nightmare

Tom - Not to be rude but that's the dumbest idea I ever heard. I went to school for two years to get my ticket. I don't use it everyday and in fact don't use it every year. One thing I learned in school is my limitations and I respect them. This is exactly as you stated. A parallel...

    Airbus A380 Test Flight

Northworst? I hate that narita stop although if you are in the new terminal in Narita it is a little better. There's only one thing worse that a 19 hour flight. That's stopping twice and making it a 25 hour flight.

    Collection of handy aviation documents

Re: Trolling for Reputation Points Well, Len. I was all prepared to use all my ten votes today on you but seeing as how there are no files I think I'll have to give them to someone else. Oh, wait - you mean I can give negative reputation? Cool - cya got go press some buttons for Len...

    Engineers not Creative? [na]

I think that argument has merit but I suspect that product development cycles are a lot shorter now and less people are involved. Is that progress? I won't get into that. But going from Paper Airplane to 787 in 4 or less years is pretty phenomenal. OTOH - It's funny when you say, "20+...

Is the End of GA Nigh? (rantish)

Re: Is the End of GA Nigh? Boy Dr. B - That certainly is reassuring - ;-( When one considers the raw number of GA pilots vs. the population I think we are in big trouble. i.e. the percentage of population flying has got to be way down.. The issue is not one of money, there are plenty of...

    Whats the most difficult thing??

The most difficult thing pilots do is dividing fuel capacity by fuel burn... On second thought maybe we do that part right but can't tell which number is bigger ETE or Endurance.

    Handheld GPS

Note of caution and maybe a checklist item. If you leave your garmin plugged into airplane power and the airplane power fails you will not get a warning that you are on batteries. You get the warning if you have been on external power and it goes away but if you power on in battery mode you...

    Airbus A380 Test Flight

That's exactly the game right now. Another benefit of the improved reliability and efficiency is the range and in the case of twins the ETOPS numbers are way up. Passengers don't like to stop and you'll see layover destinations like Tokyo being skipped. Singapore Airlines currently flies the...

    Engineers not Creative? [na]

Most folks around here know I work for GE. Every year we bring all our field guys in and have a big update meeting. For one of the dinners we had speakers in from GE Global Research, our think tank guys. I was semi-surporised to learn that even in economic downtimes (i.e. since before 9/11)...

Late to the party but I would like to see a library like the old AvSig had on Compuserve years ago. Would also love to see archives. I know that adds burden but if we were wishin' ;-) Len - However AOPA comes back, I doubt seriously they will apply 5-6 human resources to moderate the site...

Bill, If you can delay a little the Blue Ash airport days is June 11 and 12 this year. Good list - I would also add a dinner/evening in Mount Adams. Nice atmosphere plenty of restaurants and a few nice bars all in walking distance.
