What's the point of the Computer Testing Supplement?

Absolutely, not true. And your sample question above regarding GPS satellites has been removed from the exam. Along with many other questions that lack real world application and questions that are no longer relevant like ADF/NDB.

Checkride Nav log for early am test question.

Throughout all my training and having my students complete check rides I have never had a DPE who required you use weather information for your flight plan during that specific time in which you are schedule for your ride. If it was me or my student I would have them complete a flight plan...

    Which book(s)?

Whats there to elaborate on, it you strictly want to memorize the question and answers then use Sheppard Air. If you actually want to learn something then read the 8083-9A and use a test prep program that will help teach you the knowledge behind the question. The choice is yours. You may think...

    Which book(s)?

The Complete Advanced Pilot by Bob Gardner is indeed a great book, I would recommend it. For your FOI's pick up a copy of the Aviation Instructors Handbook (FAA-H-8083-9A), in my opinion this is a must read to prepare for your FOI test. ASA Instructor Test Prep has a great study guide and...

Changes to the ATP Multiengine (ATM) Knowledge Test

Characteristics detecting and dealing with tail plane icing vary aircraft to aircraft. The FAA's questions on tail plane icing were too specific and limited to a particular type of aircraft. It was best to remove those questions.

    Starting the CFI adventure...

ASA is the way to go. It included training material for all the instructor knowledge exams and has a study guide. I also recommend the flight instructor oral exam guide book by Michael Hayes.

A go-around is more common then you might think both in GA and even commercial operations so it doesn't hurt to practice. Exactly why you should practice, to keep those skills sharp.

Written Test - How did you know?

The FAA has been doing a great job as of late working with external stake holders to identify questions that may no longer be relevant or considered tricky and removing such questions from the knowledge test. Here is a snipit from an FAA FAQ and this is exactly why you should not use companies...

Written Test - How did you know?

I find my students will typically get about 5% lower on the actual exam as opposed to taking a practice test in the comfort of their own home. With that said I feel comfortable my students are prepared once they score a few 90's using a good study software like ASA or Gleim. I know ASA updates...
