Does anyone else receive emails from this company ?

Yes, so anyway I spoke with one of the principals yesterday. You can choose your kit (RVs, of course, preferred) go down there and build it with them with full assist, and then bring it back in with no apparent regulatory problems. Go figure.

Does anyone else receive emails from this company ?

The dollar to real conversion rate is 4 reals / dollar. That's the lowest it's been in the 25 years I've been traveling in and out of the country. These guys will negotiate. Their economy is a mess with the PBR scandal and general recession.

    Really lost...now what.

Assuming you have an iPhone, open the compass app. It displays the name of the city (and state) you are over, your heading, lat, long and altitude. If you are really on your game you might have started a timer or at least written down the time of departure. Now you also know how long you've been...

Does anyone else receive emails from this company ?

http://www.aeromercado.com.br/getUltrau.asp?id=13344 A few times per month I get an email from these guys selling a slightly used or often brand new(ly built) experimental aircraft. By all appearances it seems they have managed to skirt the 51% rule in it's entirety. In other words, it...

    Third class medical legislation?

It would be a sad thing to know that a few MDs who make some money doing 3rd class medicals would obstruct a process that would make GA privileges available to so many and for so much longer in their lives. GA needs this reform. MDs obviously didn't stop the SP legislation. A component of the SP...

    1977 182Q

Finally got a break this afternoon … Great comments. Henning, Alex, James: I'd use the plane to get to a CFII but that's about as far as I'm going - primarily to help friends with currency training and to get the experience - no commercial work planned. I don't care too much about the...

It would be sad thing IMO to see a plane this nice go to lease back. Maybe folks at your airport are kinder to rental planes than the ones at mine. 77K sounds like a pretty fair deal compared to the 16 others I saw online. I sent an inquiry to the sellers a few minutes ago. I might ask...

    1977 182Q

I don't really need as much plane as a 210 to get the experience I need. Flying a little slower would equate to more time logged. I'll be flying 100-200 nm from time to time for work but primarily time building. Maybe up with a friend from time to time. The real decision point will be when / if...

    1977 182Q

That's correct I'm not planning to flip a plane. I'm a low-time pilot (~200 hr) who needs experience. As per above I might be best-served to buy a plane and fly as is then upgrade to a newer plane. What is the issue w/ Lycoming v Continental in this case ?

    1977 182Q

That sounds reasonable. I'd expect the airframe to be in excellent condition based on the ad. Would like to add a panel with GTN 750 + STEC (or maybe the new Garmin AP?) with coupled approaches, synthetic vision and TAS. It's equipped with a 2 axis AP so maybe that would decrease the mods...

    Steps for an A&P ticket?

Lots of advantages to the A&P: - signing off your friend's annual on his experimental (purchased) A/C - as per R&W - you're obliged to noone after obtaining an IA - knowledge - things I grew up doing to cars/boats/bikes don't transfer well :) - knowledge - things I learned in A&P school...

    Steps for an A&P ticket?

There are some alternatives: - Attend an 18 month course at a local college and earn an A&P. That wouldn't make sense for a lot of us. - LSRM. LSRM is a an A&P/IA for light sport aircraft and can be earned in 3 weeks at an FAA approved school. After holding the ticket for 30 months you...

    Daily apsirin

Assuming one has no pre-existing risks for DVT the odds of acquiring one inflight are low. Aspirin is considered to be prophylactic for arterial embolism, but not for DVT. Compression stockings combined with inflight exercise (tensing the leg muscles, pressing feet against the floor, etc)...

    Prednisone and albuterol

You won't have a problem with either medication. Prednisone has some strange side-effects in some people - so self-ground until you finish it. In the absence of a precipitous recovery you may need an antibiotic. Feel free to text me if you need to do so. -=ICUDoc

Advice: Flight Training Beginning from day 1

Great advice Don, thanks. Do you expect to get an IA ? I've not kept up with it recently but read something a while back about the FAA supposedly making the IA more difficult to attain / hold. -=ICUDoc

Advice: Flight Training Beginning from day 1

I'm trying to sit for the A&P written as well. Did King sign you off for the written test ? And if you don't mind, how are you going to prep for the practical ? I've been told that Baker School in Nashville is a good option. Thanks. -=ICUDoc

Advice: Flight Training Beginning from day 1

I went through 5 different instructors in the year it took for the PPL (first school closed, one was fired, one went to the airlines..). None of them were particularly well-organized. That said, there are 2 parts to the PPL - the written and practical. The written you should take upon yourself...

I want to try different ways to make money

An honest way to make some money in aviation - get an LSRM and work on airplanes. The LSRM is an A&P/IA for LSA. Hold the ticket for 30 months and you can sit for the A&P written / practical. The LSRM can be done in 3 weeks vs 18 months for an A&P. LSRM training generally includes Rotax...
