    landing a seneca II

+1 on ballast in the back end of the Seneca if you don't have Pax back there. It'll help immensely! If you look in the POH, there's actually a recommended order to load the Seneca in when it comes to persons. I believe it's something along the lines of if only 1, it must be the pilot...if 2...

    do these play nicely together?

The newer Garmin navigators paired with the Aera navigators are an awesome combo and can be done for a relatively low price. I've had it in two aircraft now and still love it! Since they basically use the same O/S, it's quick and easy to get the information you are after.

    Aspen 1000 Evolution + 430W + Century 2000 A/P ... ???

I've always wondered this about later Century autopilots. Are you able to upgrade the IIIc to a 2000 easily? There are features on newer Century devices that I wish I had.

    Throttle quadrant overlay

I can understand your reluctance, but this is not the cheap plastic that you may be used to with aircraft interiors. At the end of the day though, you want what you want. Just thought I'd offer this up since it is definitely a more robust option and readily available.

    Throttle quadrant overlay

The product from SAIR Corp costs a few extra dollars, but it is well worth it as it lasts such a long time and is a good quality product. I've bought one for two different airplanes now because I like it so much.

    Rental car woes

Funny, I'm heading to PNS today and had just rented a car through Enterprise when I responded to this! Love flying there and staying a few days...got married on the beach there several years ago now. You can rent a car for the FBO directly through the website there now though. Seems like last...

    Rental car woes

I'm not arguing that point; however, I'm not sure 50% is a fair estimate. Usually the rates I see are pretty comparable. What I'm saying is that when you call that number, Enterprise (way more often than not, literally) delivers on what they say they will. I've had way more problems trying to...

    Rental car woes

If I need to rent a car on the other end of a GA flight, I usually call the Enterprise/National General Aviation Hotline number (855-233-8990), and let the folks on the other end handle it. They are very good about following up with rentals. If there is an Enterprise/National outlet that...

    EI CGR-30P and -30C in PA-30

Here's the finished product from my Seneca install. I didn't opt for the -30C to go with it...just didn't have enough remaining functions to make it worth it I didn't think. I did also install the USB device from EI...you can see it at the bottom of the panel on the pilot side.

MFD option for a garmin 400W

...or either a 695/696 or 795/796. I love the x96 option because you can get XM Radio through them as well.

    How To, XM in Cockpit

I get mine through the Aera 796, which is basically a great poor man's MFD for the GTN650. I love the combo together.

recommendation for new panel in Georgia

Do you pay sales tax on avionics work done in Georgia? We do here in Tennessee, which is why I took mine to Florida. The difference in price more than negated the fuel there and back and my airline tickets.

GI275 can now replace Century II/III vacuum AI and drive GFC500

Since my aircraft is not on the AML for the GFC500 (nor the 600) and I have a perfectly functioning Century III, I'll keep the autopilot I have since I can now pair more than just the Aspen PFD with it. This truly is very good news.

    Aera 796 audio

I am unsure whether or not the 3.5 mm jack will output the alerts from the 796, but should output the XM Radio audio. You could try an audio cable from the mount to your headsets if your headsets are capable of that. I have mine "panel mounted" in a dock with a tie-in to the audio panel. I am...

Here is something a little different...Plane down in Alabama

Missed that. When did that happen and do you have a link to this?

    Garmin Aera 760 released

I wish they hadn't gotten rid of Sirius XM (audio) functionality on these devices (over the 796 and 696). I would have readily gone with something like this over the 796 I have mounted in my panel. Did they give any reason why they stopped offering this?

Stratus ESG Connect to Garmin ADSB receivers?

I thought Stratus ESG and Foreflight were two entirely different companies these days. My GTX345 talks all day long to my iPad Mini running Foreflight via the FS510 installed in the GTN650. Side note, have you actually tried Garmin Pilot? I found the Garmin Pilot and Foreflight were both good...

    Intake Leak

Just the opposite. Making a full 40" on the ground and throughout the first few thousand feet of climb, but not all the way to critical altitude. Legitimately, I need to have SID97-3G done, but I'm trying to ensure everything else is tight first. No sense it doing the SID unless I'm confident...

    Intake Leak

Oh, I am aware. But as stated above also, I found 4 additional leaks around the intake hoses that were bubbling like this that we sealed up. I would imagine 7 small leaks all add up to an issue if not sealed up.
