    Why stall it?

I finally figured out that the key to landing the "bus" was to just fly it like any other aircraft. Stick into the crosswind with opposite rudder and remember to keep the stick coming back to counter the forward trim in flare mode.

    Air refuelling mishaps

The "B-29"s were actually KB-50s I believe. Some of the first operational tankers.

    Unleaded avgas

We've been using ethanol free mogas in all the Rotax LSAs and my brother's Luscombe for years. It works great as long as you don't let it sit for more than a month or two. It's getting harder to get it in quantity since an update to Georgia law now prohibits dispensing fuel into containers...

US Airways Blows Tire On Take Off

The main cause of the event was the crew making MULTIPLE!!! mistakes. The airplane was perfectly capable of flying even after all those mistakes. The "RETARD" wouldn't have continued if the Captain had left the thrust levers in TOGA like he should have.

    Airplane toy

My brothers and I made our own by adapting all our 1/48 and 1/72 scale models for it. Just needed a couple of rubber bands and paper clips. It was fun but not as cool as the Vertibird helicopter. I still have that in the basement.

    Aging B-52 Fleet

Speed = life but it ain't everything. I flew the B-52 in Air Combat Command's first Bomb/Nav Comp in 1994. First time we had Buffs, Bones, Beagles, and Varks in the competition.. The Red Air Viper driver remarked at the symposium that the only tactic the fast movers used was to push it...

    Sun n fun 2015 thoughts

Trying to edit my video of my two passes in the manufacturers showcase on Saturday. There is some salty language on interphone after they announced they were closing it 20 minutes early so the C- 17 could land. Those AMC guys must suck at time control.

    Sun n fun 2015 thoughts

I've observed the same thing for years. I've flown into Paradise city for the last three years. Procedures are simpler but you do get the occasional buffoonery. Still more relaxing.

Anybody attending Sun and Fun this year?

Didn't get there today due to mechanical issues and the storms in central FL. Should be landing at Paradise City tomorrow. Hanging out in the Hansen Air Group booth all week.

Reason 900 Billion why you should hang out at the airport

There's an Albatross in USAF markings that's been sitting on the north ramp in Cozumel for years. It looked pristine when it showed up and had an N nunber. I heard it was impounded for some reason. Sad fate. You can see it on google earth next to a DC 3 and old 727s.

    Some Airbus symbols....

[ --- So, why must the A320 be so harsh in its assessment of pilots when they land? The first "RayT'arrd" is the instruction, the second is the insult.

    American Sniper

...........based upon FaceBook, and a bit of Twitter, most people who think it was the greatest movie ever told about one of the greatest American heroes are the same people who tend to like Fox News and other right-wing propaganda websites. I don't know if my more left-wing friends even...

Unfortunate accident at Light Sport Expo

I heard the same rumor. Only they had pitched over enough to slam the bow on the ramp. The NTSB report will be interesting.

Unfortunate accident at Light Sport Expo

The demo pattern was limited to 500 agl with the major restrictions being not to over fly the crowd or infringe on the regular runway airspace to the east. Plenty of room for flybys in an LSA. They also highly emphasize safety in the required Daly flight briefing. I talked with a person who...

    Formation Flying Jumbo Style

Almost entirely right. You can hold it in up to 67 degrees but it will roll out to ~33 degrees if you neutralize the sidekick. 45 degrees is the limit in high AOA mode. No limits in Alternate law.
