Can the rotor guys weigh in on this?

https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/pilot-rips-helicopter-passenger-reaches-control-lever-shocking-moment Soecifically… 1) Passenger up front in a fixed wing seems a whole lot more benign than in a rotor. Thoughts? 2) I always thought the Capt sat right seat in a rotor. Not that it matters...

    Air Disasters…. I’m freekin’ hooked.

Can’t stop watching. Tons if good learning info, plus it shows just how good the NTSB (and foreign counterparts) really are. Anyone else hooked on the show??

    Velocity aircraft approach speed

I live in Sebastian, and frequent the airport to, well, checkout airplanes. When I see a Velocity Airplane on final, it always looks roughly double speed of other aircraft on final. Is that the normal speed, or is it just some sort of testing? It’s mind blowing.

    Gyripane...??

My local airport offers training in gyrocopter/gyroplane/autogyro or whatever you want to call it. It looks like a blast!!! Thoughts on safety, or other opinions appreciated. Waffling on ofI should do it for fun, as I think a Sport add on can be done without a checkride. Is there any need to...

    Question for the Controllers....

What is the purpose of “cleared to land”? I mean, I completely understand “cleared for takeoff”, as you may not have a release for IFR, or there is another aircraft in the way. But on landing, does that mean don’t touch wheels to pavement? Or don’t fly past the threshold?? I mean, if there’s a...

Always thought it was just a joke, but...

I have read numerous threads here about private pilots letting flight attendants know they are a pilot, and can help if needed. Honestly, I always thought it was just satire. Well, this morning I was in the back while jumpseating, and I heard the guy behind me actually tell the flight attendant...

    Ladders....

Just moved into a new house. HVAC filter are at the top of a 12-14 foot vaulted ceiling. I’m ****ed because I need to buy a new ladder to change the dam filters. I’m extremely afraid of heights. If I go up a ladder I need it to be super stable. I’ve looked at Little Giants but that seems...

    Garbage disposals with septic system...

I’ve read everything, and talked with numerous, knowledgeable people, yet cannot get a consensus. I get everything from DO NOT do it, to don’t worry about it, to yes but be careful what you put in it. Which brings up another question... Are the disposals that inject enzymes during grinding...

Is there still such thing as airport rug-rats?

At my small airport where I first learned to fly, there was always a couch full of pilots that sat around and talked aviation. Students through CFI. After the day we often went for a beer at the local pub. It was basically a daily hang out. Does this still exist? @midlifeflyer knows the...

    Airbus Pilots thread....

I know a few of us here fly the Bus. I thought it may be beneficial to start a thread about some of the quirkiness about the airplane. Perhaps we can learn from each other. My mystery.... the aircraft floats. I start my flare about thirty feet and walk of the thrust levers about 20. I barely...

I think I’ve asked this before, but we have a new group here...

Has anyone seen an arrow from the past navigation airway system? Either from the air or ground? Extremely interesting part of aviation history that *should* NEVER die.

    Even another logging question...

Scenario..,, and following the flow chart. First Officer, type rated in the aircraft flying for xxx airlines. He is not the sole manipulator of the controls, but he is willing and able to be PIC should the need arise. The chart seems to say he can log PIC..?? Am I screwing up the chart???

    Outdoor grills...

Do you clean your grill racks after every use? If not, how often? How often to you tear apart you grill the clean the internals?? Just curious, as this seems to vary quit a bit.

    Just curious....

What is the reason for the “do you ever use contacts while flying” question? And, if I decide to start using them between medicals is it reportable? I fly for a living and maintain a class 1. Thanks

    100 hour wonders.... amazing

I find most every student pilot here is truly trying to absorb knowledge from others. Once they get their PPL, they are submissive, yet are proud of their accomplishment as they should be. They usually go on to say this is their license to learn, Yada yada, blah blah. Then they hit about a...

    Brick pavers for driveway??? Thoughts?

We are building a house and not sure whether or not to do the driveway with pavers. I understand this will cost $$$ (10k ?), but that’s okay. If it’s much more than that we will scrap the idea. Does this involve a lot of maintenance? I realize there may be weeding to be done, but what about the...
