New to tent camping, need ideas for possible Sun n fun

I use Storm Force, which are pretty much the factory version of the ones you made! I like them a lot. I wouldn't recommend the Claw, even though many people swear by them. I've seen them break. I love the idea of having that much shade, but agree that I've seen some planes take a beating...

    Carburetor Intake Cessna 182

I've never noticed any holes in mine before, but at this point, it would be 50% RTV if I tried to plug this hole!! I'll cheap out on a lot of things, not on my airplane.

Cessna down after stalling on take off

210s evolved more than most Cessnas! The first 210s were just 182s with retractable gear. Then they made them bigger, adding two seats, but they had struts until 1966. The early 210s are a bargain if you don't need the extra seats.

Cessna down after stalling on take off

I've been in many planes with the doors removed, or the window open. One of the 182s I fly was a former skydive plane and the door opens upward. The STC only allows it to be open at a pretty low speed (can't remember right now). I won't even open it it flight because I know a skydive pilot...

    Carburetor Intake Cessna 182

I think this one lasted 65 years... since I won't be here in 65 years, I'll let the next owner buy the next one! ;)

    Thank you!! Ordered.

    Carburetor Intake Cessna 182

I don't mind buying it, but I don't want to buy a used one for $1K!

    Carburetor Intake Cessna 182

So in 1959, Cessna changed the 182 cowling. It makes it much easier to change the air filter, but much more difficult to pull the cowling. I recently had a gascolator leak, and when I pulled the cowling to fix it, I noticed the flexible piece between the intake and the carburetor had a huge...

    Aviation License Plates

My Great-Grandfather had W5ASH as his ham radio callsign. It stuck in my mind, he's been gone a long time.

    Aviation License Plates

My car is gray and black and I didn't want the standard white license plate, so I ordered a black one. I didn't customize it, just black. People, including my girlfriend, wanted to know why I put GTO on a Corvette! I didn't, it's just what they sent me. Now I'll just have to explain what...

    Aviation License Plates

I've seen a few over the years, and a friend of mine has a lot of them hanging in his hangar that he's collected. I just ordered this one. What have you seen?

    Air-to-Air Cessna 310

    Air-to-air is good. Mid-Air is not. I guess plane-to-plane wouldn't be either!

    Air-to-Air Cessna 310

Someone asked about the cowlings, so I asked the owner. This one is a 310 Turbostream. "Jack Riley produced variants of the Cessna 310 to improve performance. The Riley Rocket 310 and the Riley Turbostream 310 replaced the standard Continental 310 hp (230 kW) engines with Lycoming TIO-540 350...

    Post aircraft pictures you took

Long before I was a pro, I bought a 2.1MP Sony camera and took a lot of photos of planes! I love airplanes and love this thread! Keep sharing.

    April solar eclipse

I've been dabbling in astrophotography. I'm using a couple of telescopes with built in cameras, I haven't started using my DSLRs yet. These telescopes have solar filters and will track the sun, so I'm going to attempt to get some pics. I won't be too disappointed if I don't! We're pretty...

    Texas fires

I just got back from helping move cattle. Facts: Cow poop stinks. Burning cow poop stinks worse. Stepping in burning cow poop will ruin new boots. Cow girls are impressed when you ride without a saddle! There are enough cops up there, you really don’t want to mess with Texas right now!

I hope none of you were waiting for the Apple electric car...

There are just as many articles saying it's not true. I started looking into it because it didn't pass the smell test. Seems like he's adding in production numbers, not just sales. Same thing all car makers do. Ford says the F-150 is the best selling pickup in Texas. It's true. It's only...

I hope none of you were waiting for the Apple electric car...

My friend's Subaru was in the shop, so he rented an EV. He went from Austin to San Angelo, TX to see his parents and it was telling him it was 17 miles to the nearest charging station and he had 17 miles left on the battery! He made it, but it convinced him that he doesn't want one.

I hope none of you were waiting for the Apple electric car...

I don't understand the appeal of EV, and I'll make some people here mad, but I think all of the Tesla's are ugly and outdated designs. Even the recent story that claimed the Model Y was the best selling car in the world turned out to be false data from Elon himself. By the way, of all the ugly...
