    Tach Bouncing

Yeah, I just had the same problem. I looked into the EI digital tachs, but after watching a few videos with them in there I decided I like the old analog tach better. Bought a new tit-for-tat replacement tach.

    Taxiway distance

I always like this website: https://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-distance-calculator.htm I also like PGD... The fuel is cheap and the controllers are pretty good (although I had one get confused at night with 2 big boys on final and he tried to squeeze me in between the two with...

You're flying along and your propeller has a structural failure

The King Air at my home field shanked part of the prop off. They got lucky that it didn't pierce the fuselage.... but boy, I would have hated to be on the ground with that thing hurling towards me. The FAA got involved. It was a pretty big deal.

How to Land a Cirrus SR22. A Documentary by 6PC

That was hilarious. I loved the Cirrus "lady" offering up CAPS at every opportunity! "That's the stick, I don't touch that." -

    Retractable confidence

Yeah, I use the gear as a slow-down mechanism (speed breaks) coming into the pattern, so I'd know immediately if they weren't down. When I go first flaps, check 3 green. Second flaps, 3 green. Turn final, 3 green. Short final, full prop, 3 green. It's my routine to check a dozen times...

    Bill Wittle's dose of reality

I'm a huge Whittle fan. Oddly enough, the N-number on the side of his plane is not an N-number for his plane... maybe doctored the video up for public video??

Do you ever look down at the ground and think...

I was headed back from a day trip. I knew I'd be flying over the house, so I texted her and told her I was about 5 minutes away and to go outside and video. The kids thought it was cool. I got low enough and slowed down. Must have been... lol... .

Do FAA/PMA approved parts still need burn testing?

Poor wording on my part. All aircraft operated under part 91 only. Planes that would be operated under Part 135 are required to meet a more stringent spec (23.853(d) or 25.853(a)). My point was that if you do your interior with materials that are minimally flame treated (as required by...

Do FAA/PMA approved parts still need burn testing?

Funny, we just discussed this over at Beechtalk. Materials for aircraft that fall under part 91 (part 23 built) just need a burn cert to meet FAR 23.853(a), but do not have to meet the FAR 23.853(d) spec (the real FAR burn test). Basically FMVSS 302 is sufficient for FAR 23.853(a) (which...

Another Part 91 Part 135 question. (This is long and kind of like a test)

John needs his commercial license once Steve starts paying him $150/hour. Ownership of the plane does not matter, nor does the common purpose. EDIT: I just re-read that first part. Looks like John is not getting paid cash to fly the plane for Steve, but John is accruing flight hours...
