Do controllers see a different 'blip' if an aircraft has ADS-B Out?

As we get closer and closer to the 2020 deadline, I find myself wondering, Can controllers (tower and/or enroute) see a difference between the blips on the screen if the aircraft has a standard Mode C XPONDR or an ADS-B OUT XPONDR? Thanks in advance!

Where to get spin training on the east coast?

Looking for recommendations for places to get the required spin training for the CFI license. I want a place that isn't just some instructor giving the sign off. Looking anywhere from PA down to NC. Big area, I know, but I have family scattered about. If you have the cost estimates that'd be...

Do enroute controllers care about birds?

So I was doing a flight today (ifr in vmc) and heard a guy on the radio give the controller location on a flock of geese. Within the next 15 minutes I saw a flock off to my 3 o'clock. There were about 3500 msl (about 3000 agl). I don't think they were the same ones the other guy had reported. I...

Just a reminder.... (flying IFR during VFR)

When flying on an IFR flight plan in VFR weather you are expected to see an avoid just like you were bumbling along not talking to anybody.... On my flight today I was flying at 6,000. There was a decent amount of haze and smoke. About my 11 to 12 position I notice a dark spot in the near...

    Tv Show 'The BULL'

The new show 'BULL' is on its second episode tonight. The show follows a guy who does trial/jury science to figure out to help his clients win. His client tonight is a pilot who lost control of a commercial airline in windshear killing all but herself. It's slightly interesting so far.

Need some advice - planning my longest trip to date

Title explains it all. Headed to KGAD (northeast Alabama regional, Gadsden, AL) to take my brother to pick up his truck that broke down. The trip one way is 520+ miles and will take just over 4 hours non-stop. I'll stop at least once for fuel. The arrow has 50 gal and burns 10/hr. I'll probably...

    Weight and balance questions

Attached is a picture of the loading graph to figure out the moment of our arrow. My question is: where the diagonal lines stop, is that the maximum amount of weight allowed in that particular area? Or can you extended those lines provided a) it's not specifically prohibited (like in the...

Discussions with my dad: what plane would work?

Since dad and I have been stuck in the milking parlor together a lot lately we've run out of things to discuss, so we start talking about planes and how fun it would be to get a grass strip on the farm, we have a great place where we can get 2,000 ft. Tracking your new certificate?

I feel like this was discussed earlier but my search-foo is failing me. Since I have nothing better to do is there anyway to figure out when you'll get your new (permanent) certificate after a checkride? I know they say it can take up to 6 months, where can I narrow that down a little.
