Mooney M20D - Are there still gear conversion kits?

Novelty is fine until you're kicking yourself for flying at 115kts in a Mooney with a wide-open throttle

Mooney M20D - Are there still gear conversion kits?

Barn find on a M20D. Looks to be in fair condition given the circumstances. Literally kicking the tires on the thing... Searched the available mod kits from Mooney and didn't see the M20D conversion kit available, does anyone still make them?

When to know when to quit...or at least take a long hiatus

Yeah, I keep having dreams of taking trips in the club plane but I just have so few missions where it's even practical or enjoyable (I have similar experiences flying with kiddos). It sucks that my airport is a 50 minute drive from my house so that adds even more time to a trip overall...

When to know when to quit...or at least take a long hiatus

I feel like this is somewhat redundant since if I'm writing a post on knowing when to quit, I've probably answered my own question... Yes, and... I don't want to! I worked so hard on my ratings and have always dreamed of being a pilot. I'd love a pilot career but with special needs kiddos in...

Part 141 School's fleet blown off the ramp. Is FBO to blame?

MKC doesn't have a ton of small planes on the ramp but no other aircraft were significantly damaged. Interestingly enough, none of the schools' Cessnas flipped. Only the Pipers.

Part 141 School's fleet blown off the ramp. Is FBO to blame?

The FBO removed them completely so even if the school wanted to tie them down, they couldn't. The school is a tenant of the FBO and utilizes their services. To what degree the FBO is responsible for aircraft on their ramp is up to the lawyers but to have a completely empty hangar (except for...

Part 141 School's fleet blown off the ramp. Is FBO to blame?

A prominent FBO at KMKC that has already receiving bad press recently has a flight school tenant that uses their ramp and services. They removed tie downs from the ramp to make the jets happy. They also happen to be hosting a hangar dance and as of this morning, the hangar was completely...

What are currently the best EFBs for Android?

I'm still a happy user of FltPlan Go on iPad and Android

What are the advantages of X-plane 12?

I haven't taken the leap yet simply because I mostly fly the HotStart TBM 930 which is still only on 11 (I think). I would LOVE more accurate weather and the ability to update my databases for the G1000 but other than that I'm just fine with 11 for IFR practice.

Wings of Hope Spring 2023 Raffle

This was about the only thing that was going to get me to buy-in to the Wings of Hope Raffle. Used to be 3 tickets for 150 for 3000 total tickets. Now it's 275 for 5000 tickets. For that kind of bump I'll wait for a 182 over a run out Musketeer.

Why does the FAA hate ADHD so much?

Exactly! I am a parent of an ADHD kiddo and looking at her it's been a mirror. Like holy crap, that was me! I struggled with the same things but I'm just fine as an adult. She wants to fly so badly even as a 10 year old girl, she wants to join CAP just so she can get closer to airplanes...

Why does the FAA hate ADHD so much?

I think that's a factor but plenty of Gen X kids got saddled with that too and all we had were Hot Wheels, sticks, and garden hoses.

Why does the FAA hate ADHD so much?

There are millions of people with the diagnosis, many of whom have managed just fine without medication. There are millions more who deal with it without a diagnosis. Yet whether you're on meds or not, or have EVER taken anything for it, the FAA thinks this is a really big deal.

Free PIC hours to be my safety pilot (KAPA Denver area)

I had a heck of a time finding one. But I'm also not able to just hang around the FBO or flight schools. We have a really active local FB group for pilots which made all the difference.

172 Crash near KFWN (Sussex County)

So, I just learned about this today, well, I had heard about the crash but didn't realize it was Tom Fisher. Tom was the guy who really taught me to fly nearly 10 years ago, I can't say enough about his excellence as a mentor and as a pilot. A few years ago his school went part141 and his...
