2009 Ford Focus, Keep or Replace?

Yep. Loving $4 and $5 fill-ups on my Kia EV6. :D Short of having to replace most of it, service is cheaper. The labor can be a lot, plus not having the car if it needs to be in for days or regularly going in for repairs. The car market is nuts right now. Used cars are selling high, new...

Van's RV-10 down in Marin Headlands - two dead

Sadly that is true. I've also been told by lawyers that you can't sign your minor children's right to sue, which I thought rather odd. I can sign a waiver to allow them to participate in activities, but not sign a waiver that they won't sue if I get hurt doing an activity.

Van's RV-10 down in Marin Headlands - two dead

Problem is the deceased signed that, but not the party/parties suing; spouse, parents, children, siblings, passenger's family, etc. Sad how litigious this country is. As we know, statistically the cause was the pilot. Even then, the passenger got in the plane of their on free will. I wish...

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

I may want to hit eBay for a better drunk for my EV6. The ones in the US are tiny. Apparently it’s a “child safety” thing. I’ll just need to make sure mine has the right setup to connect the bigger frunk they have for European owners.

What should I buy? (Car edition)

Nissan Altima is a pretty good option. Highway mileage it's rated up to 39 mpg; base 4 cylinder, 35 mpg for the turbo version. A niece has one and it really goes a long way on the highway between fill-ups. I just got a Kia EV6, so great on the "fuel" economy (it's an electric vehicle), but...

Personal x-wind minimums, & how often do you divert?

I can only think of two diversions right now. One was for the runway being closed due to a plane having the nose gear collapse on landing. The other was for strong thunderstorms across Florida from the Gulf to the Atlantic. Several business jets were there at JAX with me, doing the same...

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

Decided to stop by the DC Fast charger on the way home from our daughter's home after lunch today. It's an Electrify America 150 kW DC Fast charger. So, I was surprised that it started at 176 kW. As it got closer to 80% it slowed down to 155 kW. Still really nice, especially for a...

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

Many days it is just ~8 miles going to the gym and back in the morning. That's not much to recharge. ;) If we ever go back to the office, then I'll get a few more miles in. The easy route is 15 miles each way, mostly interstate. Surface routes are shorter, but typical a longer drive time...

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

I don't remember seeing that. I do remember something about charging it up to 100% once a month. I need to do a search on the PDFs as I don't see that last part right now. Lots about safety: not touching the metal parts of the connector, not pulling cable for the connector, checking for...

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

Yep, just seems more noticeable when you start off with less range. :( Oddly my 2016 Mustang convertible gets or slightly exceeds EPA highway mpg at 80 mph with the AC running. I'm sure it would get even better mileage if I didn't go as fast. Around town it does well to get the city EPA rating.

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

That was on a nice cool morning and afternoon; cool for Atlanta in April (~40-53*). So, no AC or heat. I'm sure the range will drop when I'm cranking the AC on 95* day and cruising on the interstate. :( Right now the DTE is lower than what the car is telling me the efficiency is. What other...

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

I haven't read anything about battery life between 110 and 220, only that regular DC Fast can wear the battery somewhat more (it's always vague how much more) than charging on Level 1 / Level 2 at home. I got a Level 2 charger with a 50 amp breaker, which quite frankly is overkill, especially...
