Conducting Research - Any Business Jet Ops/Owners/Mechs on Frequency?

Hello Fellow PoA'ers. I'm looking to chat with folks that are 1) Owner/Operators, 2) work in Flight Departments/Ops, or 3) are Maintenance Directors that have experience with operating fleets and making purchasing decisions for small-to-mid sized business jets (comparable to the Embraer Legacy...

    Amusing controller commet

If I'm approaching around 10 nm out and haven't been handed off, I usually just drop a quick "have airport in sight" (assuming I actually do have it in sight).

Got to Fly a Class D 737 Sim Today

Got to fly a real 737-200 simulator today. Delta pilots actually trained in these and then went right into a cockpit with passengers. Here's an edited version showing first attempt at takeoff and landing with minimal instruction. My Dad may very well be the first do to donuts on Atlanta...

    Where's my motivation?....

Any interest in getting your instrument rating? If so, now's a great time to start knocking that our while you wait the the little ones to get bigger. I'm in the same place as you with family and hours and I'm now halfway through the IFR. Never planned to fly the family without it and it's...

Need a 172 in Atlanta for photos

Yup, was going to recommend the same. They've got a 2012 SP but the older birds (2000s) are in great shape, too. As far as I'm aware, they have the newest 172s of the KPDK FBOs.

just woke up in what appears to be a body bag.

Christ, this again? Already been covered in another thread. Seem to remember something about a FAA special issuance and something else about small farm animals.

    Airplane Repo The TV Series

Looks like they've recently shot an episode near Gillespie where blogger Gary Wing is based. BTW, he publishes some really good blog and video content worth checking out at www.flythewing.com. Here's his report in a recent newsletter calling out how scripted this show is:

    Life Insurance for Pilots

Pretty sure Art must be posting in-character as George Costanza. So I'm going to through the application process now and curious what others are carrying vs what they pay. Anyone willing to share some data points? I'm looking at $1k/yr per each $1MM of coverage on Term 20 w/ Minnesota Life...

Airfacts Journal Story on PDK accident

Not directly related to the question, but this reminded me that I simulated a few scenarios in x-plane departing KPDK rwy 3L climbing Vy in a C172 to see at which AGL I could make it back to rwy 16. Was surprised to see I could pull it off at 500' if I reacted immediately and nailed my bank and...

    PA32 down out of PDK

First place my head went, too. FYI, the press is reading this thread--I've been contacted based on comments posted here.

    PA32 down out of PDK

I heard cleared for t/o 3L (the shorter rwy) on LiveATC. Pilot reported going down 2.5 - 3 mins later. What's strange is that we were on frequency just a few mins later for our own departure and not a single word heard that would clue us in that something had happened during the next 10 mins...

    PA32 down out of PDK

Denial. When/if my time comes to be tested... I hope I'm strong enough to fully and immediately grasp the situation I'm in. It's something I'll be thinking about a lot.

    Holding Pattern Standard Turn Direction

Just curious but is there any practical reason why holding patterns default to right-hand turns as standard? I know traffic patterns default to left turns for better visibility from the left seat but why would holding patterns default to the right?

    PA32 down out of PDK

I'm not sure I see climbing in the pattern at a busy airport like PDK providing much of a safety factor. A few thoughts to consider: 1. PDK is the 2nd busiest in the state, so it's not going to be practical with the traffic, some being vectored midfield. Also complicating things is the...

    PA32 down out of PDK

I'll add #6: partial but catastrophic engine failure before 400'. Keep in mind this plane left Ashville with a likely higher density altitude and to assumed to have only refueled at KPDK. If W&B was an issue, wouldn't it be apparent departing Ashville? Density altitude was 1600 vs 1000 airport...
