    Ercoupes, anyone?

My C-90 Alon's performance is virtually identical to my buddy's C172A in takeoff, climb, and cruise. We flew together frequently and had numerous opportunities to compare performance. Most noticeable differences was to steepen the Aircoupe approach you slow down, with flaps he just dropped the...

    Ercoupes, anyone?

I have an Alon A-2 Aircoupe, a later version of the Ercoupe. Mine has a too high gross so it's not sport pilot legal. Mine has rudder pedals but I wish it didn't, they just take up legroom and add weight. You land in a crab even with the pedals and it's really fun, actually looking forward to...

    Grumman Tiger questions

Hit your target speeds on approach and land in the mains only, the nose gear is just for taxing. I adjust my speeds for my current weight but know others don't, they just live with a bit more float. They are honest flying airplanes without any bad habits but an AYA checkout would be preferable.

    Grumman Tiger Overview

I'm off the ground at gross just before my airports displaced threshold at 1176' so I think my roll is about 1050', conditions are almost always warmer than standard though. Distance seems slightly longer than my friends 172's or PA28's, strange thing is landing roll seems shorter than both of...

    CXL Activities?

Get the Carne Asada, you won't regret it. Everything is good at Rosa's but the carne asada and cabreria are both great.

    Great day to practice landings...

I flew in that yesterday, UT25 - KPGA - KMYF. Averaged 40kt headwind in AZ, 30 in CA. Hit my head twice, dust cloud went to 12k', no real horizon below that.

    Strange Gadget on Car

New car dealer put it in all their cars, $10 in parts, $20 in labor, then try to charge $250 for it. I said no and they just stuffed a circuit board into the slot and I saved the money.

    Grand Canyon West (1G4)

There were actually several fixed wing tour aircraft using the runway, I think they were shuttling in tourist from Vegas. During the fall there was probably one every few minutes. Getting in was easy, land and turnoff to the ramp. Leaving took the coordination, took a while to back taxi between...

    Picking a new engine monitor.

I replaced my JPI EDM-700 w/FF with an Auracle CRM 2101 two years ago, couldn't be happier, reclaimed a lot of panel space and it's really easy to use, unfortunately it also reclaimed some space in my wallet too. I was able to use most of the JPI probes and the FF transducer. Thinking of putting...

    Grand Canyon West (1G4)

I flew my Aircoupe in there a few years ago without any trouble. Make sure get familiar with the Grand Canyon chart before you go. There was a significant amount of traffic and no parallel taxiway so it took a bit of coordination.

    Temps for CHTS JPI 700

Want to lower the temps the seeing on your JPI? Pull it out and put an EI unit in. I've had both in mine and the EI will consistantly read 30-40 degrees lower on climb and cruise. The probes are different and I think that's what causes the difference, apparently Lycomming used the EI bayonet...

    Grumman AA5B Tiger

I have the biggest cruise prop approved for my plane, Sensenich 76" diameter 65" pitch. Cruises 75% at 142 kts. I had a borrowed 61" for a while and the takeoffs and climbs were noticeably faster but it was too easy to over-rev in cruise.

    Grumman AA5B Tiger

I've been out of an 1800' dirt strip in Baja at gross, no problem, airborne before halfway. The differences between my Grumman and friends' Pipers and Cessnas are minimal. What seems to make more of a difference is what kind of prop you have, cruise or climb.

    Grumman AA5B Tiger

PM me if you're interested in a ride. I'm in San Diego but suspect that we can arrange something. I don't have the great paint job of Mike's but I do have a Team Grumman cowling.
