    Short Field Landing Tips?

How short is short? I've had my Bonanza in and out of a 1700' grass before and it was easy. I was based on a 2200' grass strip that I routinely would have full wings tanks and 3 up in it (on a mild cooler day). So what's short? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thread for meeting up / posting your location / plans

I completely understand. I would have done the same thing I'm sure. Of course I would have had to settle for my trusty ol'Bonanza and not a luxurious Malibu like you took. I did fly a Malibu to and from Denver one time though... Nice plane! My Flybaby is good for about 150 - 200 mile or so...

    Ramp checks at OSH?

I've had a run-in with the FAA and to be honest, all of them that I dealt with (except one) were very courteous and almost friendly. It seemed to me they just wanted to do their job and make sure all the I's were dotted and T's crossed. Having said that, a buddy had his Cessna 150 grounded by...

Can I ferry a friends plane?

So if a buddy asks if I want to go fly his plane around the patch for fun, and I'm gone for 20 - 30 minutes. (Happens a lot) I can't log it unless "I" put gas back in it? I had a friend once get a new bi-plane. It was rated for aerobatics as am I. My friend had done spin training in other...

Can I ferry a friends plane?

I'm not overly worried about it because the key word here is flying a "friends" airplane here or there. I don't advertise, and I don't do it just for anyone. But if a friend needs one moved and I'm qualified to fly it, I'll do it. I've retrieved 3 or 4 planes for buddies that have purchased...

Can I ferry a friends plane?

This just cracks me up! Just fly the damn thing for her. There's no passengers, no freight and you are not getting paid for it. If I worried every time about flying a buddies plane here or there for him (sometimes cross country), it would never get done! I've ferried friends planes many...

Flying in and out on Wednesday

When I've wanted to leave after the airshow, I just made sure everything was packed and fueled before it started. As soon as I see the last act almost done, I would walk to the plane and get ready. I'm airborne about 20 min after. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Commuter Airplane

Try almost any of the RV series planes. i.e. RV4, RV6 or 7. They are fast, economical and fairly cheap to maintain. I'm pretty sure you won't have a problem falling into your budget guidelines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Let's talk crappy old taildraggers...

Come on down with whatever. I fly my Bonanza down sometimes and there's Cherokees, RV's, Cessna's etc.... All are welcome.... Give me a heads up and I can show you around. I'll probably be in a Stinson 108 as it's the theme this year. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Let's talk crappy old taildraggers...

Fiveoboy - you need to come down to Blakesburg, IA on Labor Day weekend. It's the annual Antique Airplane Association fly-in. You'll see every type of rag and tube taildragger there is. I can probably get you a ride in many too. At least you can try them on for size. We typically have...

    Let's talk crappy old taildraggers...

You can get a Flybaby cheaper than that. I've owned mine since 88'. It does about 95mph indicated in cruise on about 4.5 hr. Fun plane (obviously since I still have mine) but if you want to take someone up, buy a Champ. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
