Tail Winds Cafe at 44N GoFundMe

KPOU was closed when I went up there a few weeks ago. The FBO said they were closed because of the terminal renovations, but it doesn't look good. I think they also operated Tailwinds at 44N.

Plane crash- not even sure what to say

I was scheduled to fly yesterday out of KISP. I cancelled early on because the WX forecast was going to be pretty bad all day. It was NOT a hard decision. Not even close.

    CT/Southern MA/Eastern NY Pilots?

I fly a 172 out of KISP on Long Island. 44N is one of my favorites, as is KGON, both have a great little on airport Cafe. Also fly into KBID regularly. They have a great place as well. KPYM (Plymouth), and KEWB (New Bedford) also have great places to eat at the airports.

East coast weather historically bad or just that time of year??

WX here on LI has been really lousy. Today is a good example (102156Z, 28017/G26)...peck gust today was 41kts. Looks OK for tomorrow. 44N for lunch, hopefully.

    Flying Club

All the above comments are valid, and make sure they have a few $$ in the bank to cover whatever crops up.

Going to the airport to get information about starting my PPL

$175/hr, wet with an instructor is what I paid 2 years ago, so that sounds pretty reasonable. I'm in NY. 172 is a great plane to start training with, and don't worry about the stalls. I hated them at first, but not a big deal.

Flying issues with the other half..

My wife is also not a fan. She felt nauseous just sitting in the plane, ON THE GROUND. Commercial flying, although not a fan for different reasons, she can tolerate. I belong to a flying club, so I always have someone willing to fly with me. I text my wife when I land at my destination, and...

Do people contact you every time there's a plane in the local news?

Being a fairly new pilot, (little over a year) I get the calls from friends, and relatives not only to make sure it wasn't me, but to let me know why I shouldn't fly "those things".

    LoLPilot's Private Checkride

WAY TO GO....Congratulations. Great write-up. I used to go to the airport I fly out now of with my Dad when I was a kid to watch the planes. Unfortunately, he's no longer here to fly with me, but I know he'd be proud. Enjoy.

    PPL Checkride Tuesday

If your CFI says you're ready...you're ready. Get a good nights sleep, drink plenty of water during the oral, take a leak before you fly, and go have some fun. He's your first passenger so don't forget the passenger briefing, they love that.

    ADSB question / collisions

We have the Lynx ADSB system that will transmit traffic to your ipad and foreflight via bluetooth. I think its great, but you still have to look out the window. Easy to fixate on the ipad.

Wreckage of plane missing since 1997 found in Michigan

Flight Training - From Wife's Perspective

My wife was not thrilled when I started my training, and has not flown with me since I got my ticket (2017). She doesn't like to fly commercially, and will not go near the 172 I fly. (Flying Club). She does understand why I did it, and doesn't limit my flying in any way, but its just not...

How long did it take to get your PPL?

Ummm...42 years. Started when I was a senior in HS (1975), ground school, 4 hours. Completed 2017 after 102 hrs. and 2 years. (Didn't get credit for the ground school or the 4 hours)

Too Damn Many Crashes This Weekend

Just think of all those GA flights this weekend that DIDN'T end in tragedy...including mine.

    Landing the Airplane

Patience. My CFI always said don't force the plane to land, have patience, she'll land when she's ready. Once you round out...keep pulling (Gently) until she settles. Nail the approach, and always be prepared to go around if it doesn't feel right.
