I landed safely (Doug Barr aka coloradobluesky)

Flew up to Greeley and lunch then back to Erie. Everything was fine, we had a good lunch. Landed normally, taxied to hangar, got car out of hangar, got ready to put plane in hangar and I had a SEIZURE whole right side. Had to lie down on the tarmac, twitching. Christian called 911 and ambulance...

    Small inexpensive Oscilloscope

What are the good ones? It's for audio applications in the performing music industry. One thing I want to be able to do is detect audio signal yes or no coming out of an audio cable. I think they are 20khz and below. I need floating ground because some of the signals are differential etc.

How much downhill do I need?

I have a winch to pull my Husky into my hangar. But I have to pull it out (with a yoke I fashioned). I want to build a platform with a ramp going up to it and use the winch to pull it up the ramp. Then it goes to a level platform. Should I put my 3/4" plywood on 1x2s (3/4" high) or 2x4s (1 1/2"...

    power jack Aviat Husky

My Aviat Husky has a small (about 1/8") power jack instead of a cigarette lighter. It is female. I want to splice a male plug onto my phone charger cable (one made for a car cigarette lighter jack) so I can charge my phone from my airplane. Anyone know what jack that is and who sells it?

    Manifold Pressure Gauge

The Manifold Pressure Gauge in my Husky isn't working. It seems to just stay on the airport elevation pressure the whole flight (might move a little). It started by getting sluggish. Any chance of repair or do I just replace it?

    skybeacon

Skybeacon has an ADS B design that is quite clever. https://www.uavionix.com/products/skybeacon/ The instructions say to mount it on the wingtip using the existing light socket. Then connect the red wire and black wire. The unit has an LED position light built in. And you are ready to go. Now...

    Camper Van

I owned a 1985 Chevy G20 van that had a sofa bed in back and all the trimmings. I didnt go in for the cabinetry, stove or sink, I just had a coleman, ice box and box for food. It worked great. Pull into a campground, put the folding seat in back down into a bed, throw my sleeping bag on it and...

    ADS-B solution

Garmin has announced the GDL-82 for out only (all that is required) ADS-B. It is a remote mounted box that interfaces to an existing mode C transponder. It includes the GPS WAAS antenna needed. It uses the existing transponder antenna for its UAT. Since it is UAT and not mode S, it can be set to...

How do I get my neigbor to...

Stop watering the side of my garage with her sprinklers. I asked her to stop, so she just excluded that zone from watering. Then she set a whirly bird sprinkler and watered the garage with that. She says she doesnt want to pay to have the sprinkler heads changed, so she isnt going to do it. I...

    Anyone had concrete slab leveled/stabilized?

Seem to be two methods. Mud jacking and polyurethane foam jacking. I want to stabilize a sinking slab that is on soft (poorly compacted) ground. I say that because it is sinking. Any advice or experience out there?

    Getting rid of rust

Not in the plane, but in the toilet. For whatever reason, my vintage 1987 house has parts in the tank that rusted extensively. I had a plumber change as many parts to new, non rusted but the water still stains the toilet bowl with rim of rust. Which rust removal product conquers this stuff for...

    Cable

I have a winch I use to pull my plane into the hangar. The steel cable is springy and misbehaves if you don't keep an eye on it. Im pretty sure there is a synthetic or nylon or some kind of plastic rope like cable that can work as a replacement to the steel cable, but looking online I can't find...

I have two GPS, a King IFR KLN90B and Garmin handheld 396 and they have a lot of information in them. Neither has Flight Service frequenies. With Flight Watch gone, I need Flight Service for weather info. Do any of the aircraft GPS units have flight service frequencies?
